Ryan Williams, the Alabama star wide receiver, is one of the best CFB players at his position. The 6-foot-1 athlete played his high school football at Saraland High School in Alabama and was one of the best athletes from the class of 2024.
In his three high school seasons, Williams helped his team to an overall record of 38-5. After a subdued sophomore year where he only managed to grab 27 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns, the five-star receiver went off the following two seasons, catching a combined 160 passes for 2,965 yards and scoring 43 touchdowns.
Williams also managed to rush for a combined 1,078 yards on 94 carries while also scoring 24 touchdowns through three seasons. The Alabama native earned himself a five-star rating with his impressive performances at the high school level and became one of the best-ranked recruits from the class of 2024.
Ryan Williams was ranked no. 5 nationally and was the third-best player at his position, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He was also the second-best overall prospect from the state of Alabama. Williams received offers from top programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Texas, Texas A&M, and Georgia.
Kalen DeBoer talks about his expectations for freshman Ryan Williams
Ryan Williams announced his commitment to Kalen DeBoer's Alabama on January 24. He enrolled in the Tuscaloosa-based program on May 28. It wasn't a smooth ride for the Crimson Tide to land the five-star prospect.
Williams had de-committed from Alabama and was in talks with programs such as Auburn and Texas just a month before the signing day. However, DeBoer managed to re-sign the talented receiver and is excited to have him on his roster.
"There was so much thrown at him," Alabama's head coach said, as per AL.com. "And when I hear him talk about what it is within our program that he really enjoyed and is excited about, he retained so much of that information.
"Which leads you to believe this was an important decision for him that he was really thorough, really thoughtful, and I just can’t wait to get him in there with our guys. Because that attention to detail is something that you can’t take for granted."
Alabama will open its 2024 CFB season at home against Western Kentucky on September 1.
