AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2025, has all the love for Boston teams but not for the New York Yankees.
The Utah Prep small forward has thrown his support for Boston teams and aimed a dig at the Yankees.
On Tuesday’s edition of ESPN's "First Take," Dybantsa revealed his support for them after he announced his commitment to BYU.
“Oh yeah, Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots, all of them," Dybantsa said. "We have the most chips in every sport.”
He then took a shot at the Yankees.
“The (New York Yankees) haven’t won since I was two,” Dybantsa said to Yankees fan Stephen A Smith.
Dybantsa’s love for Boston teams should not be a surprise as he was born in Brockton, Massachusetts and attended Saint Sebastian's School before transferring to Utah Prep.
As for New York, it has been a disappointing year for its teams. The Yankees lost the World Series to the LA Dodgers, while the Knicks failed to make it past the semifinals of the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers’ New York Jets will not be in the NFL playoffs for the 14th consecutive year.
Dybantsa eyeing Spurs or Magic after BYU Commitment
Despite his love for all Boston teams, AJ Dybantsa will not think about the Celtics when he declares for the NBA draft.
Dybantsa said that the San Antonio Spurs and the Orlando Magic are potential destinations for him. He believes he will fit in well with Victor Wembayama, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft.
Dybantsa also believes he can achieve great things with Paolo Banchero, who was drafted by the Orlando Magic as the No. 1 overall pick in 2022.
"Spurs and Magic," Dybantsa said. "How do you think me and Wemby (Victor Wembanyama) would play? ... Me and Paolo (Banchero) just go crazy together.”
Nonetheless, the BYU commit is not eligible for the NBA draft until 2026.
