Bryce Underwood's recruitment examined

Bryce Underwood, 6-foot-4 and 214 pounds, is ranked higher than any football prospect in the 2025 class by On3, 247Sports and ESPN. The Bellville (Michigan) High School star has 41 offers, according to 247Sports, cutting across different zones and conferences including the Southeastern Conference, the Atlantic Coast Conference and so on.

Apart from LSU and Michigan, other programs with strong interest in the quarterback include Michigan State and Ohio State. As the top 2025 prospect from Michigan, Bryce Underwood has been the Wolverines’ priority target, as evident in 11 unofficial visits to Ann Arbor. This is only rivaled by his four unofficial visits to LSU. However, his last visit to any program was in 2023.

Anyone might ask what the fuss is about Underwood. This question is answered by how impactful he has been for Bellville. That began as a freshman when he passed for 2,888 yards and 39 touchdowns as he led Bellville to a state championship. He repeated the feat in his sophomore season with 2,762 yards and 37 touchdowns passing as the school won its second straight state championship.

The Wolverines’ pursuit of Underwood has become more important since they lost four-star quarterback Carter Smith’s commitment, leaving their 2025 class with no quarterback.

Despite the lack of a quarterback commit with about a month away from the early signing period, Michigan coach Sherrone Moore doesn't appear worried. He expressed his confidence recently when asked about his team's quarterback situation. “We'll be fine,” he said.

Successfully flipping Underwood from LSU might convince Michigan fans to share this view.
