Four-star linebacker Samu Moala has been a dominant player since his freshman season. He's excelling as a middle linebacker in his junior season, while also playing multiple positions on special teams and offense.
Moala is ranked by On3 as the No. 237 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 23 linebacker in the 2025 class and the No. 22 recruit in California. As per 247 Sports, he's the No. 160 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 19 linebacker in the class and the No. 20 recruit in the state.

Top three schools in contention for Samu Moala's commitment
#3 Utah
Utah was one of the first schools to offer Samu Moala, in Sept. 23, 2022. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Utes have a 9.6% chance of securing his commitment.
Utah hasn'r earned any commitment in its 2026 class so far. Besides Moala, the school also offered two other four-star linebackers in this cycle: Talanoa Ili from Lutheran High School in Orange County, California and Tristan Phillips from Ventura High School in California.
#2 Washington
Washington offered Samu Moala on the same day as Utah. The Huskies' recruitment of Moala has been notable due to the pre-existing relationship between him and the program's inside linebackers coach Robert Bala.
Bala, previously at Alabama, began recruiting Moala while with the Crimson Tide, and that connection has carried over to his new role at Washington. RPM gives the Huskies a 21.4% chance of securing Moala's commitment.
The Huskies have two committed players in this cycle: four-star running back Ansu Sanoe and unranked kicker CJ Wallace.
#1 USC
USC offered Samu Moala two years ago, on Oct. 02, 2022. Since then. Lincoln Riley and his coaching staff have made him feel like a top priority for the Trojans 2026 class.
"Coach Riley said he’s going to make sure that I have no other choice but to go to USC," Moala told 247 Sports. "He said he’s not going to leave any doubt in my mind. He’s going to, to the best of his ability, recruit me and make sure I come to USC."
According to RPM, USC is the frontrunner in his recruitment with a 24.5% chance of securing his commitment. The Trojans' 2026 class looks promising with six committed players, ranking No. 2 in the nation.
The cycle features four-star prospects like Xavier Griffin, Brandon Lockhart, Braeden Jones and Ja'Myron Baker as well as three-star prospects like Joshua Holland and Madden Riordan.
