Four-star safety Byron Baldwin reaffirmed his commitment to Indiana's class of 2025 on Tuesday, but then announced his decommitment from the Hoosiers the next day. He committed to Indiana in April and was the cycle's highest-rated commit.

On3 ranks Baldwin as the No. 190 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 5 prospect in Maryland, and the No. 17 safety in the 2025 cycle. He specialized in the triple jump and set a personal best of 40 feet last year.

Baldwin has received more than 20 offers in his recruitment journey so far. Let's see which three schools have the most potential to land his commitment.

Top 3 programs in race for Byron Baldwin's commitment

3. Penn State

According to 247Sports, Baldwin previously attended a camp at Penn State, where he impressed safeties coach Anthony Poindexter. After the departure of Antonio Branch, who flipped his commitment to Colorado, the Nittany Lions are eager to strengthen their defensive backfield.

Last week, the school extended an official scholarship offer to Baldwin for its 2025 Class.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Baldwin has indicated that Penn State is one of the four programs currently standing out to him, alongside Colorado, Missouri and UCLA. The school will be working to get him back on campus for an official visit to strengthen its chance.

Penn State's 2025 class ranks No. 16 in the nation with the commitments of 24 prospects.

2. Missouri

Speaking to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Baldwin noted that Missouri stands out alongside Colorado as one of the schools making a significant impression on him. The Tigers hold 17 commitments in the 2025 class, ranking No. 17 in the country and No. 9 in the Southeastern Conference.

Missouri has already secured two safety prospects in this cycle: four-star Charles Bass from East St. Louis High School in Illinois and three-star Dyllon Williams from Demopolis High School in Alabama.

1. Colorado

The frontrunner in Baldwin’s recruitment appears to be Colorado. Crystal Ball Prediction from Adam Munsterteiger of 247 Sports forecasts a favorable outcome for Colorado. The On3 Recruiting Prediction also gives the school a 93.3% chance of landing his commitment.

Baldwin took an official visit to Colorado on Sept. 20 and got the chance to chat with Deion Sanders for an extended conversation.

“We talked football for about an hour," Baldwin told SI. "We had a good conversation, and it was normal because it was the second time speaking to him. It was good. Colorado is definitely a school I could see myself going to."

Colorado has eight committed players in the 2025 class, ranking No. 82 in the nation.
