One of the most highly recruited high school players in the country is the 2026 four-star running back Savion Hiter. The 5-foot-11.5 rusher is currently sitting on more than 20 offers from some of the best football programs in the nation.

Schools such as Virginia, Penn State, Michigan, South Carolina, Florida State, Oregon, Miami, Rutgers, Ole Miss, Alabama and Texas have extended their offers to him. However, the running back has reportedly narrowed his list down to five schools: Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia, Penn State and Ohio State.

Hiter is ranked No. 29 nationally and is the second-best running back from the class of 2026, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the best overall prospect from the state of Virginia.

Here's a closer look at the top three teams that are in contention to land the coveted four-star running back.

Top 3 potential landing spots for RB Savion Hiter

#3. Michigan

The Michigan Wolverines are one of the leading contenders to land the coveted four-star running back, Savion Hiter. They made the 2026 Prospect's list of top five schools along with other colleges such as Georgia and Ohio State.

Hiter visited the Wolverines' campus during a recruiting event in July and spoke about it afterward (via On3):

"It was fun," the Virginia native said. "I got to connect with Coach Tony [Alford] and the rest of the staff. I got to meet with Coach [Sherrone] Moore. It was good to see them again. I got to hang out with other recruits like Brady Hart and Jasper Parker. Jasper showed me around and stuff. It was a great visit."

The Wolverines have a 12.2% chance of landing Hiter, as per On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. That gives them the fourth-best odds of acquiring the running back.

#2. Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs extended an offer to Hiter in February last year. He even visited Athens in March this year, during the Bulldogs' first spring practice of 2024.

Georgia's class of 2026 is currently ranked No. 7 in the country, as per 247Sports. They have landed three commitments so far and have extended offers to 188 other high school athletes.

However, none of those three commitments is from a running back. Landing Hiter will certainly improve the Bulldogs' overall roster. Georgia has a 14.6% chance of landing the four-star recruit, as per On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

#1. Ohio State

The Ohio State Buckeyes are one of the favorites to land the coveted four-star running back, Savion Hiter. The Buckeyes extended an offer to the blue-chip prospect back in October last year. Even after the program changed the running backs coach, Ohio State is still a strong candidate to sign Hiter.

Ohio State's class of 2026 is currently ranked No. 29 in the country, as per 247Sports. The Buckeyes have only landed one commitment so far from Mater Dei High School's wide receiver, Chris Henry Jr.

Ryan Day's team has a 17.1% chance of landing the four-star athlete, as per On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. That gives them the second-best odds of acquiring the running back.
