Four-star prospect Victor Singleton is one of the best cornerbacks in the nation. On Wednesday, the 6-foot, 160-pound standout announced a top five of Oregon, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio State and Texas A&M.
Singleton is the No. 6 cornerback in the 2026 class, the No. 2 recruit in Ohio and the No. 64 prospect in the nation. He plans to make his commitment prior to the start of his senior season, although he has not yet scheduled any junior day visits.
Let's see which three programs have the most potential to secure Victor Singleton's commitment.
Top 3 schools competing for Victor Singleton's commitment
#3. Texas A&M
Texas A&M might be seen as a dark horse in this race, but don’t count out Mike Elko’s program just yet. The Aggies extended an offer to Victor Singleton on Sept. 12, and although they have not been at the forefront of his recruitment, there is a strong case to be made for them.
Elko has helped make Texas A&M’s secondary a key focus in the last few years. Under former coach Jimbo Fisher, the defense wasn’t as emphasized, but since Elko took over, the secondary has been a major point of emphasis. This is an important selling point for a player like Singleton.
With the 2025 class signing over, Elko's coaching staff is fully focusing on the 2026 class. The Aggies have already racked up 10 commitments in the cycle, ranking No. 3 in the Southeastern Conference and No. 5 in the nation. The class has a cornerback commit in three-star prospect Ryan Gilbert.
#2. Michigan
Defensive backs coach Lamar Morgan is leading the recruitment for Michigan, and they have managed to get Victor Singleton on campus for three visits.
The On3 Recruiting prediction Machine gives the school a 3.9% chance of securing his commitment. However, the Wolverines have been successful in recruiting for the 2025 class, which could serve as a solid selling point for Singleton to join the 2026 class.
The Wolverines have two players committed to them in the class in four-star cornerback Brody Jennings and four-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile.
#1. Ohio State
Ohio State is the clear favorite to land Victor Singleton, with the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine giving the Buckeyes a dominant 92.5% chance of securing his commitment. His recruitment has been heavily influenced by the fact that he is a top recruit from Ohio, and the Buckeyes have a long-standing tradition of succeeding in their home state.
Ohio State extended an offer to Singleton in June, and since then, the program has been relentless in its pursuit. Cornerbacks coach Tim Walton and defensive assistant Gerren DuHart have been leading the charge.
Another important factor in Ohio State’s favor is their ability to recruit other top in-state talent. Along with Singleton, the Buckeyes are also targeting Elbert Hill, the No. 1 cornerback in the 2026 class, and Ohio State is the favorite in his recruitment with an 81.5% chance of securing his commitment.
Ohio State already has secured commitments from two in-state prospects in the 2026 class: four-star athlete Jakob Weatherspoon and three-star wide receiver Jaeden Ricketts. The cycle has four committed players, ranking No. 8 in the nation.
