Four-star interior offensive lineman Zykie Helton is weighing his college options like other recruits from the 2026 class. He received offers from schools like Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida State, Colorado and Georgia.
Helton is the No. 328 prospect in the country, No. 30 offensive lineman in the 2026 class, and No. 38 recruit in Georgia, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He has made it clear that playing time and depth charts will play a critical role in his decision.
Let's see which three schools have the most potential to secure his commitment.
Top 3 schools vying for Zykie Helton's commitment
3. Colorado
Colorado entered Helton's recruitment in June when offensive line coach Phil Loadholt extended an offer to him. Though the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Buffaloes less than a 1% chance of securing his commitment, Deion Sanders' program has an edge in his recruitment due to his Carrollton High School (Georgia) teammate and five-star quarterback Julian Lewis.
Lewis is actively recruiting Helton to come to Colorado and the success Colorado got in Sanders' two years could be a strong pitch for Helton.
As of now, Colorado’s 2026 recruiting class consists of just one commit, unranked cornerback Javion Romer.
2. Georgia
Georgia was one of the first schools to recognize Helton by sending him an offer in May 2023. Since then, the Bulldogs stayed firm in his recruitment.
Offensive line coach Stacy Searels has taken the lead in Helton’s recruitment, with running backs coach Josh Crawford also playing a key role. While the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Bulldogs a 3.6% chance of landing Helton, the program’s consistent success and proximity to his home state make it a strong contender.
Georgia’s 2026 class ranks No. 9 in the nation with the commitments of four prospects: wide receiver Vance Spafford, cornerback Jontavius Wyman, tight end Lincoln Keyes and defensive lineman Seven Cloud.
1. Alabama
Alabama leads the race for Helton’s commitment with a 94.3% chance, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Running backs coach Robert Gillespie and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic are spearheading the Crimson Tide’s efforts to bring him to Tuscaloosa.
Alabama wide receiver Caleb Odom (2024 class) was Helton's teammate. Helton initially committed to the Crimson Tide's 2026 class on Jul. 9, 2023, before backing out a year later. Following him, Alabama lost the commitments of three other prospects.
Four-star cornerback Zyan Gibson is the sole commit in Alabama's 2026 class as of now.
