Four-star offensive tackle John Turntine is on the verge of making a decision about his future destination. He is one of the most coveted prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, ranked as the No. 1 recruit in Texas, the No. 3 offensive tackle nationally and the No. 16 overall prospect, according to On3.
The 6-foot-3.5, 305-pound standout has yet to announce a public commitment date. However, he has narrowed his choices to 10 programs: Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, Stanford, Georgia, Texas A&M, Missouri, Tennessee, Oregon and SMU.
Let's see which three programs have the most potential to secure John Turntine's commitment.
Top 3 programs vying for John Turntine's commitment
#3. Texas A&M
As an in-state program with strong recruiting momentum, Texas A&M has positioned itself as a serious contender for John Turntine. The Aggies have recognized his potential to anchor their offensive line in future seasons and consistently prioritized him throughout the process.
Texas A&M has 10 committed players in the 2026 class, ranking No. 6 in the nation and No. 4 in the Southeastern Conference. The majority of these committed players are four-star prospects. The school is also in the mix for blue-chip recruits like offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, defensive lineman Lamar Brown, athlete Brandon Arrington and wide receiver Tristen Keys, among others.
#2. Michigan
Michigan remains another big contender in John Turntine's recruitment due to its reputation for developing offensive linemen. The Wolverines extended an offer to him on May 15 and have remained heavily involved in his recruitment ever since.
One of Michigan’s key selling points is its recent recruiting momentum, headlined by flipping five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood from LSU in the 2025 cycle. For the 2026 class, Michigan has landed cornerback Brody Jennings and wide receiver Jaylen Pile.
The Wolverines are also pursuing elite players like running back Javian Osborne and cornerback Victor Singleton.
#1. Texas
As the top-ranked player in Texas, John Turntine has been a priority for the Longhorns from the outset. His multiple visits to the Forty Acres and strong relationships with the coaching staff have positioned Texas as the frontrunner in his recruitment.
Recruiting analysts have predicted Texas to land Turntine, with On3 giving the Longhorns a 98.6% chance. 247Sports has also logged multiple crystal ball predictions favoring Texas.
“Texas has everything you could want—academics, city life, and a football program that’s ready to take off,” Turntine told On3 in October.
Texas' 2026 class is already strong with five-star quarterback Dia Bell and four-star wide receiver Chris Stewart.
