Tight ends are integral players in both the passing and running games. Their increased importance on the offensive side has made recruiting top talent at the position a priority for college programs.

5. Jaden Reddell
Reddell committed to Georgia’s 2024 class on May 24, 2023, and enrolled at the school in January. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 230 pounds, Reddell's physical attributes are only part of what makes him special. His coach, Sean Martin, has praised him for his natural ability to "jump off the page."
As a sophomore, Reddell recorded 21 catches for 549 yards and seven touchdowns. During his junior season, he improved with 49 receptions for 1,002 yards and 12 touchdowns. Lastly, in his senior year, he had 27 receptions for 418 yards and four touchdowns.
Reddell was rated by On3 as the No. 6 among the tight ends in the nation and the No. 90 overall prospect in the 2024 class.
4. Caleb Odom
Four-star tight end Caleb Odom committed to Alabama's 2024 class on July 15, 2023, and joined the team in January. By March, he had switched to wide receiver and was practicing in that position during spring training.
Andrew Ivins, the 247 Sports scouting director, predicted that the prospect can thrive in a system that utilizes his ability to stretch the field and create mismatches.
In 2022, Odom was a MaxPreps Junior All-America first-team selection after catching 63 passes for 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns. His performance helped lead Carrollton to the final of Georgia’s AAAAAAA playoffs. As a sophomore, he was primarily utilized as a wide receiver, earning all-region recognition for his play.
Odom was rated by On3 as the No. 1 among all tight ends in the nation, the No. 5 prospect in Georgia and the No. 30 overall prospect in the 2024 class.
3. Carter Nelson
Four-star tight end Carter Nelson committed to Nebraska's 2024 class last year and joined the program on June 1, 2024. According to coach Matt Rhule, Nelson has since shifted to the wide receiver position, a change Rhule announced during Big Ten Media Days.
According to national recruiting analyst Allen Trieu, the prospect possesses a good catch radius and can make catches in traffic.
During the 2023 season, Nelson caught 53 passes for 610 passing yards and rushed 120 times for 1,148 yards. He also recorded 43 solo tackles and three interceptions. The prospect is a two-way player who also plays basketball. He averaged 16.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists in his senior season.
Nelson was rated by On3 as No. 3 among tight ends in the nation, the No. 1 prospect in Nebraska and the No. 41 overall prospect in the 2024 class.
2. Luke Reynolds
Penn State extended an offer to Reynolds on March 18 last year, and he committed to the program a week later. He joined the team in January and has drawn comparisons to Dallas Cowboys tight end Luke Schoonmaker. Apart from playing on the football field, Reynolds will also take his skills to the hardwood, as confirmed by LSU basketball's official 2024 season roster.
In 2023, Reynolds was named NEPSAC Player of the Year after catching 48 passes for 754 yards and eight touchdowns. He also contributed on defense, recording 56 tackles, three interceptions and two pass breakups. His performance at the Elite 11 Finals earned him the ALL22 TE MVP.
Reynolds was rated by On3 as the No. 4 tight end in the nation and the No. 74 overall prospect in the 2024 class.
1. Trey'Dez Green
Green committed to LSU before his senior year at Zachary High School in Louisiana and signed in December. His high school coach, Cedric Anderson, has described him as a "once-in-a-generation" talent.
Green helped lead his school to a Division I non-select state championship in his senior year, catching eight passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. Over the course of the 2023 season, he recorded 53 receptions for 960 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Green's dominance extends beyond the football field, as he also led East Feliciana to the Louisiana Division IV Non-Select state semifinals during his junior basketball season.
