Recruiting is a staple in college football. Who is going where, and how will their career turn out? This is a frequently asked question. High school athletes make important decisions regarding where they will play college sports. Some athletes are set on where they are committing, and others seem to rethink their choices.
The 2025 recruiting class has seen big announcements on where certain players are committing, but it's also had numerous flips on the recruiting trail.
Top 6 flips of the 2025 high school football recruiting class
#1 Jaime Ffrench Jr. to Texas Longhorns
Wide receiver Jaime Ffrench Jr., out of Mandarin High School, committed to the Texas Longhorns on Aug. 30, 2024. While he initially was to represent the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ffrench changed his decision following Nick Saban's retirement.
The WR - the fourth-ranked player in his state of Florida - joins Jonah Williams and another five-star receiver, Kaliq Lockett, as the five-star talents recruited in the Horns' Class of 2025 by head coach Steve Sarkisian.
#2 Dakorien Moore to Oregon Ducks
Dakorien Moore switched his commitment from the LSU Tigers to the Oregon Ducks, which surprised many. The Duncanville five-star receiver committed to LSU in August 2023 but de-committed in May 2024.
Dakorien officially visited Oregon in June 2024 and decided to commit to the Ducks on Jul. 4, 2024.
Oregon has made waves in the recruiting scene, with head coach Dan Lanning adding a talented receiver to the 2025 class.
#3 Keelon Russell to Alabama Crimson Tide
Five-star Duncanville quarterback Keelon Russell made headlines as he de-committed from SMU Mustangs and pledged to Alabama Crimson Tide. Many thought Keelon would stay home in Texas and play for SMU, but things changed after a particular visit.
Keelon was initially committed to SMU in September 2023, but after an official visit to Alabama on May 31, the quarterback flipped to sign with the Crimson Tide on Jun. 4.
#4 Deuce Knight to Auburn Tigers
Lucedale-born four-star quarterback Deuce Knight ended his association with Notre Dame Fighting Irish to sign with Auburn Tigers in Oct. 2024. While it seemed Notre Dame got a top quarterback for its 2025 recruiting class, Knight - who initially committed to the former in September 2023 - decided to visit other schools like Auburn.
The young quarterback's frequent stops at Auburn eventually led him to switch from Notre Dame to Auburn on Oct. 2, 2024. The addition of Deuce Knight will come as a timely reprieve for head coach Hugh Freeze, and the George County youngster is poised to make an immediate impact on Auburn if he decides to stay.
#5 Jerome Myles to USC
Having admired USC's history of producing NFL draft picks, Corner Canyon five-star wideout Jerome Myles decided to commit to the Trojans for the 2025 class.
Initially committed to the Ole Miss Rebels in April 2024, Jerome retracted his pledge in June to explore opportunities elsewhere after visiting schools like Utah and Texas A&M.
An offer came from USC in July, and Jerome Myles officially visited the Trojans in September. 247Sports' Blair Angulo predicted Jerome Myles would commit to USC, and it came true. Myles committed to USC on Sep. 19, 2024.
USC has a good pairing for the 2025 class with Myles, and quarterback commit Julian Lewis.
#6 Isaiah Gibson to UGA
Warner Robins' five-star edge rusher, Isaiah Gibson, was part of USC's 2025 recruiting class from March 2024 to Jun. 18, 2024, when he would de-commit from the Trojans.
Many prominent SEC programs, such as Georgia, Tennesee, Auburn, and Florida, have consistently tried to recruit the 6-foot-4, 245-pounder. But Georgia got the nod from one of its own. Isaiah—who hails from Warner Robins—decided to stay home by committing to the Bulldogs on Jun. 24, 2024.
Kirby Smart has had great defenses at UGA, and the edge rusher is a solid addition to the class of 2025.
