Five-star wide receiver and Ohio State commit Chris Henry Jr. recently spent time with two-time Super Bowl winner Sony Michel. Henry reposted the video of himself training with the former NFL running back on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
Michel, who retired from the NFL in July 2023, was a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft. He was selected by the New England Patriots with the 31st pick. He went on to win Super Bowl LIII with the Patriots in 2018 before repeating the feat with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021.
Henry, standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 195 pounds, is one of the most exciting talents in the 2026 recruiting class. The 17-year-old is regarded as the No. 1 wide receiver in his class by On3, ESPN and Rivals. On3 ranks him as the No. 5 overall prospect in the class.
Latest on Chris Henry Jr.’s college recruitment
The high school junior has received huge attention from top college programs, getting 34 scholarship offers, according to 247Sports. Among the top programs that have extended offers to Henry are Georgia, LSU, Auburn and Alabama. However, the Cincinnati-born talent has pledged his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Notwithstanding, there have been suggestions from several quarters that Chris Henry Jr. might flip his commitment from the Buckeyes. He was recently linked to his late father’s alma mater, the West Virginia Mountaineers. Henry’s father, Chris Henry, played for the Mountaineers before his NFL career which was cut short by his death in 2009.
West Virginia recently hired a new coach, Rich Rodriguez. A major expectation hanging on Rodriguez’s shoulders is to attract elite recruits to the program. It's expected that his relationships with influential figures like Ken Kendrick, Pat McAfee, Ike Morris and so on, will boost his chances.
With the links he has to the program, Chris Henry Jr. is the ideal candidate for Rodriguez to start his high recruiting ambition. Henry’s adoptive father, Adam “Pacman” Jones is another link the standout receiver has to the Mountaineers. Jones is a former defensive back for the program as well as being a donor.
Ultimately, the decision on whether to follow his father’s footsteps at West Virginia is largely Henry’s to make. He posted a clip of his father playing for the Mountaineers on Dec. 15. Mountaineers fans may take that as a sign.
