Malachi Toney is one of the shining stars of high school football in the state of Florida. The four-star wide receiver from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has impressed a number of college scouts and coaches, garnering 15 offers. A glimpse into Toney’s electrifying skills can be seen in a video that has surfaced on Instagram, showing him in practice.
Toney is shown in the video showing off his ball-handling skills, quick speed, incredible footwork, and agility. The 5-foot-9 wide receiver is able to evade opponents with flexible and quick body movements, complemented by a good eye for the ball. The 165-pounder also uses his athletic body frame to great advantage.

Malachi Toney is a four-star rated wide receiver of the 2026 class. According to the 247Sports Composite Ranking, the standout wide receiver is the No. 26 wide receiver nationally, and the No. 31 player in Florida. Similarly, he’s ranked the No. 33 wide receiver nationally, and the No. 39 player in Florida by the On3 Industry Ranking.
Toney has received 15 offers from colleges across the country. However, he committed to the Miami Hurricanes in Aug. 2023. Even with his commitment to the Hurricanes, Toney has continued to receive offers from other top colleges, including Ole Miss, Michigan, Florida, and Oregon.
While he has not announced any official visit, Toney has been making unofficial visits to campuses, including two in March to Florida State and Auburn. His visits to the Hurricanes have been more frequent this year, with a total of three visits between January and April. The Hurricanes are apparently working hard in their recruitment of the wide receiver.
Talent recruitment in college sports, especially football, is a very competitive enterprise, and it is not uncommon for prospects to flip their commitments. With the increasing interest in Malachi Toney, keeping him may become an increasingly demanding task for the Hurricanes. Miami remains his tentative destination, however.
Toney played 15 games for the American Heritage High School football team as a freshman, making 35 receptions for 621 yards and eight touchdowns.
