Duke freshman Cooper Flagg and his brother Ace Flagg have enjoyed a lifetime of basketball together. Starting from Nokomis Regional High School in Maine, the brotherly duo took their cohesive chemistry to Montverde Academy in Florida.
The twins were originally part of the 2025 recruiting class, but Cooper moved to the 2024 class and committed to Duke. In October, Ace also made his final call on college by signing with their home state university, Maine. He will join the Black Bears roster next year.
Cooper Flagg delved into how their bonding on the court has benefited them as players during an episode of MADE Hoops on YouTube focusing on his high school career.
"I think we just kind of fit together, like, we're playing for so long, he knows where to be at the right times," Cooper said, "I know where he's gonna be when I'm at certain spots so having the part of just fitting in together just kind of connecting." [TS - 4:28]
The 6-foot-9 forward responded to a question about whether he and Ace hang out together and if they have the same friend group.
"We pretty much do all the same things together like 95% of the day," he added. "A lot of the same classes, outside of school we have the exact same friend group. It's pretty much the basketball team."
Cooper Flagg shares how he's bonding with Duke squad
At just 17, Cooper Flagg has the world on his feet. He is the most hyped freshman in recent times, drawing comparisons to Anthony Davis and Shaquille O'Neal.
Despite his exceptional talent, the Maine native remained humble, embracing the opportunity to learn from his peers on the Duke roster. To his credit, Flagg has quickly adapted to the rigors of the new environment.
"It's been great to just view my teammates going through this part of my life," Cooper said ahead of his college debut. "It's something you only get to go through once being a freshman in college, so, I mean, I've had a really good time with it."
"My teammates like the golf. We go hit the range, something that I love to do," he said. "Then just really just hanging out and bonding with them, just getting closer."
Cooper Flagg, along with his Duke buddies Kon Kneuppel and Neal Begovich, was spotted on the golf course last week. The trio enjoyed their day off at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club after the season opener win against UMaine.
