Top cornerback prospect and Ohio State signee Devin Sanchez took a dig at the Texas Longhorns for losing the Cotton Bowl to the Buckeyes on Friday. Sanchez, who is from Texas, made fun of the Longhorns on X for losing the bowl game to Ohio State on Texas soil.
“Best in Texas leave Texas,” he tweeted
The post also contained a short video of him and someone else in Ohio State celebratory shirts. His post has attracted reactions from several netizens on X (formerly Twitter), especially Ohio State fans who expressed their delight.
A Buckeyes fan, Quinshon Judkins 4 Prez, declared Sanchez would be one of their favorites for the tweet.
“oh yeah you gonna be one of my favorites,” they wrote.
An X user, Jeremy George, reinforced Sanchez’s tweet, noting Ohio State as the standout cornerback’s destination.
They wrote, “Best in Texas come to Ohio State.”
Another Ohio State fan, Jake Nolan, is already eager to see the Buckeyes’ next generation of defense players led by Sanchez.
They commented, “Get ready to replace these Dawgs we have on defense.”
However, Sanchez’s celebration wasn’t well received by fans on the other side. An X user, Rogue Shop, expressed their disappointment.
They wrote, “I’m sad you feel the need to brag about leaving Texas as if you are proud of that. Good riddance to you, enjoy the great state of Ohio.”
Who is Devin Sanchez?
Devin Sanchez is a five-star cornerback recruit from North Shore High School in Houston, Texas. He is the No. 1 cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class, according to On3 Industry Ranking and 247Sports. At 6-foot-2 and weighing 180 pounds, he poses a strong presence in the defense.
He had an impressive junior season, finishing with 32 tackles, 11 pass deflections, five interceptions and a defensive touchdown. He was honored with a first-team Junior All-American spot by MaxPreps.
Sanchez had more than 30 offers per 247Sports. The Buckeyes competed with Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma and LSU to land him. Outside of football, he also runs track. He has run 10.81 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 49.45 seconds in the 400-meter in 10th grade.
Devin Sanchez is from a family with an athletic legacy, with his mother having run track at UTEP, where his father also played football.
