Four prospects announced their commitment to Coach Prime's Colorado Buffaloes on Thanksgiving including four-star wide receiver Quentin Gibson. Gibson, Carde Smith, London Merritt, and Alexander McPherson announced their commitment on Nightcap with former NFL greats Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco Johnson.
The wide receiver prospect from North Crowley High School in Fort Worth, Texas became the third receiver in Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class. He joins four-star receivers Adrian Wilson and Quanell Farrakhan Jr. When asked what he would bring to the Buffs, he was very clear on his abilities. He said (30:58-31:09):
“Well, I bring the ability to flip.the field no matter where we at. And I bring, you know, consistency. So if you need a third down conversion, throw me the ball.”
Gibson also expressed confidence in his speed, maintaining he could beat Nightcap co-host and former NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco Johnson in any race. The 5-ft-8, 160-pound high school senior has been praised for his “exciting blend of speed and agility.” He has shown signs of the potential that drew the Buffs’ attention to him throughout his high school career.
Gibson compiled 542 scrimmage yards in his junior season as well as seven touchdowns. He rushed for 325 yards and five touchdowns in 36 carries, averaging 9.03 yards per carry. In addition, he caught 12 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns.
His ability to turn games around became more pronounced as a senior. He caught for 589 yards and 13 touchdowns on 24 receptions in just the first four games. Gibson’s size notwithstanding, his work ethic and output on the gridiron are qualities that will make him an asset to Coach Prime's system at Boulder.
How Coach Prime's Colorado landed Quentin Gibson
Quentin Gibson has been on the Buffs’ radar for some time. However, they are not the only program to have expressed interest in him. He received 26 offers in total according to 247Sports, including offers from Colorado State, Arkansas State, Bowling Green, and Army. He took his first official visit to Boulder this fall and detailed his impression in an interview with Maroon and White:
“It was a fun visit and it was exciting to see their atmosphere. The coaches were telling me how I would fit in the scheme and be able to replace some of their top guys.”
Colorado's 2025 recruiting class is currently at No. 29 nationally per On3, leaping from No. 69 in the wake of its recent recruitment.
