10 best BTS appearances on reality and talk shows

Bangtan Boys are no strangers to different categories of reality shows worldwide, be it a talk show, a variety show, or a documentary. BTS appearances in various reality shows were quite frequent before the members' mandatory military enlisting in 2023.

Through these shows, BTS got the opportunity to promote recent tracks, share the latest updates regarding the band, share their personal lives, and showcase their personalities.

While some talk shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon or the TODAY Show are limited to interviews or performances, the variety shows highlight the candid moments of the boys.

1) The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon witnessed a BTS appearance in September 2018. The BTS members joined Fallon after attending the UN General Assembly. All the members chose flamboyant outfits and spoke about their upcoming goals, current feats, and the UN experience.

When Fallon asked RM about his speech at the UN Assembly, he said,

" I was so nervous. I was holding that paper and if you see it, I was shaking. It was a big deal."

While the members had fun with Fallon, they shared insights about their upcoming projects and performed songs from their album Love Yourself: Answer. Also, they spoke about their urge to attend the Grammys that year.


2) American Hustle Life

BTS appearances can be seen in American Hustle Life, an American TV show that debuted in 2014. In this show, the band members completed tasks around learning hip-hop and rap music in two weeks with Warren G and Coolio, an American rapper.

Tony Jones, another rap mentor, was involved in this show, which was shot in Los Angeles. He taught the Bangtan Boys mainstream rap music while the show was the medium of cultural interaction.

In an interview with Live Journal, Tony commented on his learning about Korean culture,

"I think I learned how to stay positive. They go through a lot that nobody sees. We would get to leave and get some sleep, but I'd hear them stay up until 5 and we had to wake them up at 7 every morning like everyday. One episode you're going to see they are so tired that they can't even open their eyes."

He further added,

"There are so many kids over in Korea trying to make it. They're always rehearsing, dancing, singing, rapping and they work so hard. I really appreciate it."

3) In The Soop

In The Soop, a Korean reality show, has had several seasons and among them, BTS appearances can be seen in two of them. In this show, the band members spend one week in the woods, and the show documents their candid moments - pursuing hobbies, eating food, relaxing, and much more.

The BTS appearances in this show hooked the Army as it broadcasted some funny moments of the members, like Jimin mimicking Jungkook's snoring, and V's continuous uttering of password to unlock the door, making the show binge-worthy.


4) Knowing Bros

Knowing Bros is another variety show that witnessed BTS appearances. The show began in 2015 and the 94th episode featured the Bangtan Boys. The show is also known as Men on a Mission and it has completed more than 300 episodes.

The BTS members came to this show wearing the school uniform and their candid behavior with the host made the episode intriguing and lightweight.

5) Bon Voyage

Another variety show, Bon Voyage, features appearances from BTS members, recording the members' travel documentaries. Debuting in 2016, the reality show has documented four seasons till 2020.

6) Rookie King

Rookie King is one of the old shows featuring BTS, which debuted in 2013. Concluded in 8 episodes, each episode in this variety show is about sixty minutes long. Filled with skits, musical challenges, and interviews, the members played several games throughout the show.

Starting from RM's birthday celebration and Jimin's bandana giveaway to basketball games between seniors and juniors, Rookie King is another show that can be explored by the ARMY.


7) Go! BTS

Go! BTS documented the lifestyle of the members on their LA trip for KCON, concluding in three seasons. The show debuted in 2014 and showcased all their preparations for attending KCON for the first time.

The original videos of the show have since been deleted, however, BTS ARMY can explore them on YouTube.


8) BTS Gayo

BTS Gayo revolves around music and K-pop, slightly different from the other variety shows with BTS appearances. It debuted in 2015, consisting of 15 episodes divided into two seasons.

Members of the band can be seen performing several musical activities like karaoke, identifying songs, and so on. Season 2 was aired in 2017, consisting of 6 episodes. Both the seasons can be watched on Weverse.


9) Running Man

Running Man is one of the most popular variety shows in Korea, featuring several celebrities. This show, too, witnessed BTS appearances in several times.

In 2015, RM appeared on the show in episode 265, while the 300th episode was filled with dance performances of all BTS members. Jin and V have made several appearances in this show as well.


10) TODAY Show

TODAY Show is a popular talk show broadcasted by NBC. Several BTS appearances can be seen in this show since 2020. Bangtang Boys first appeared on the show in 2020 and talked about their album Map of the Soul: 7.

For the song Dynamite, the members were interviewed on this talk show in the same year, and they returned to the talk show in September to perform Anpanman and Dynamite. In 2023, Jung Kook continued the BTS appearances in the show for his solo album Golden.


These 10 shows featured BTS several times, through which BTS ARMY can witness the candid versions of their idols. Apart from these shows, fans can explore several documentaries and movies of BTS to enjoy the preparations and behind-the-scenes moments of the band.
