A number of K-Drama actors multitask as successful thespians and singers, showcasing their impressive talents on screen and on stage. Some even go as far as singing original soundtracks for the movies they feature in.

Surprisingly, a few who have no singing careers, have surprised fans by singing original sountracks for their movies. They express the emotions of the characters they portray through soulful music that leave viewers enraptured throughout the drama.

K-Drama actors, including Kim Soo-Hyun, Bae Suzy, Song Joong-Ki, and IU, among others have showcased their singing skills for some of the most popular K-dramas.

1) Song Joong-Ki

The 38-year old K-Drama actor, popularly known for his portrayal of Vincenzo in the eponymous drama series, has gotten accolades for his acting skills and interpretation of roles.

The actor has won Baeksang Arts and Dragon Film Awards. Song Joong-ki rose to fame for his role in Descendants of the Sun and since then, has gone on to star in multiple K-dramas.

In 2012, fans were pleasantly surprised when Song joon-ki lent his voice for Really, the original soundtrack for the drama series, Innocent Man. The song channelled the character’s feelings towards Moon Chaewon’s character in the movie. He also sang Enjoy a Rummy for the romantic comedy, Penny Pinchers.


2) Bae Suzy

Bae Su-ji, popularly referred to as Bae Suzy, made her acting debut in the hit television series Dream High in 2011. Su-ji, formerly of the K-Pop girl group, Miss A, went on to star in other popular series like Gu Family Book, Uncontrollably Fond, and While You Were Sleeping, among others.

The 29-year-old screen goddess made her debut as a K-Drama actor in 2012, with Architecture 101. Bae Suzy showcased her singing talent with OSTs Dream High and Winter Child for the Dream High series. She has recorded other original soundtracks like So Many Tears, My Dear Love and Ordinary Days for series, Me Too, Flower, Start-Up, and Doona!


3) Kim Soo-Hyun

Kim Soo-Hyun, one of the highest paid K-Drama actors in 2020, has graced K-drama and movie screens since his acting debut in 2007 with Kimchi Cheese Smile.

The 36-year-old actor went on to star in other dramas, including Dream High, Moon Embracing the Sun, The Thieves, Its Okay Not To Be Okay, and more recently, Queen of Tears. His first soundtrack for a movie was Dream High, for the series of the same name.

From then on, he showcased his singing prowess with soundtracks; The One and Only You, In Front of Your House, and Way Home for series; Moon Embracing The Sun, My Love from the Star and Queen of Tears, respectively.


4) IU

Lee Ji-eun, popularly known as IU, achieved stardom through music and hit songs like Lost and Found, Growing Up, Good Day, Love Poem, and Lilac among others.

The 31-year-old dabbled into acting with a supporting role in the drama series, Dream High. She followed it with minor appearances in several television series.

Her first lead role opportunity came in You Are the Best! Since then, she starred in Pretty Man, My Mister and Hotel del Luna, amongst others. The multitalented celebrity featured in the main soundtrack for Dream High, and also sang Heart for The Producers.

Apart from IU’s movie soundtracks, she’s also recorded songs for other dramas like Crash Landing on You and The Greatest Love, amongst others.


5) Park Bo Young

The 34-year-old K-Drama actor has proved her impressive acting skills year after year. She made her acting debut with Scandal Makers in 2008, and since then has starred in multiple movies like A Werewolf Boy, On Your Wedding Day, Oh My Ghost, Strong Girl Bong-soon, and more recently, Daily Dose of Sunshine.

Her acting skills have resulted in her getting multiple accolades, including winning APAN Star Awards, Baeksang Arts Awards, Blue Dragon Film Awards, and Buil Film Awards, among others.

Park Bo Young made her singing talent known in 2008 when she sang Free Age, the OST for Scandal Makers. She followed after with more OSTs, My Prince, for A Werewolf Boy, Leave, for Oh My Ghost and Listen to Me for On Your Wedding Day, amongst others.

The actress delivers soothing vocals that leave viewers enraptured till the end.
