Now, Netflix has officially confirmed the release dates for dramas like Squid Game, Gyeonseong Creature, and more.
Throughout the year, Netflix has released a few dramas. While the upcoming seasons of several chart-topper shows are scheduled for release in the last quarter of 2024, some have been delayed to 2025. With fresh releases like Romance in the House and Love Next Door, Netflix is lining up some returns in these final months.

Squid Game and other Netflix K-dramas returning with season 2

1) Gyeongseong Creature
The second season of Gyeongseong Creature will be released on September 27, 2024, taking a dramatic leap from the past to the present day. In season 1, this Netflix K-drama narrated the story of a creature made of greed.
This historical drama takes place in 1945 when South Korea was under Japan's invasion. Jang Tae-sang (Park Seo-jun), the wealthiest man in this city, runs a pawn shop. On the other hand, the female lead of this Netflix K-drama, Yoon Chae-ok, is played by Nevertheless actress Han So-hee.
Chae-ok meets Tae-sang when she is looking for her missing mother. As an influential person in the city, Chae-ok asks for his help in her investigation, and they visit Ongseong Hospital. Upon reaching the hospital, they find the devilish creature made from a lab experiment in the basement. Gradually, Chae-ok discovers that the monster is her mother, who still remembers her daughter.
Apart from the main theme, the narrative is weaved with several sub-plots, making this Netflix K-drama quite complex. The first season also concluded with a loose end, and fans anticipate the new season as the timeline changed to present-day Seoul.
2) Squid Game
Another awaited Netflix K-drama, Squid Game, is slated to be released on December 26, 2024. The Emmy-winning show garnered worldwide appreciation due to its thrilling and brutal narrative.
The story begins with Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, and his miserable life. While sinking into debt, he meets a salesman who plays the game 'Ddakji' (a traditional Korean game) and invites Gi-hun to participate in a big game to win a lot of money.
Desperate, Gi-hun enters Squid Game with 455 other players. They will have to play six children's games, and the winner gets ₩45.6 billion (each player was considered worth ₩100 million). The twist is revealed in the first game - Red Light, Green Light - where all the participants who lost are killed. With numerous plot twists, the narrative develops and shows Gi-hun as the winner of the game.
Oh Il-nam, the most mysterious character in the game, reveals his true identity at the end. Season 1 ends in an airport setting, where Gi-hun is chasing the salesman, portrayed by Gong Yoo, preparing the plot for season 2.
3) All of Us Are Dead
Adapted from the webtoon, All of Us Are Dead was released in 2022, becoming a masterpiece in the zombie horror genre. After getting worldwide appreciation, the production for season 2 of the K-drama was soon confirmed. However, according to reports by the Korean outlet Star News, the production was delayed to 2025, which implies a 2025 or early 2026 release.
Starring Park Jihu and Yoon Chanyoung, the drama depicts the survival narratives of a few school students. Set at Hyosan High School, this Netflix K-drama begins with the daily life of the students, and the issue of bullying is highlighted in the first scene.
The science teacher of the school is summoned to the hospital to identify his son, a victim of bullying, and later, he understands his son has become a zombie. As the story develops, it is revealed that the mastermind behind the zombie apocalypse is no one but the science teacher.
Throughout the drama, the tension hooks viewers with the surprise zombie attack and some students' strong will to survive. While the drama also showcases the responsibilities of politicians in such a situation, All of Us Are Dead depicts some heartwarming scenes.
4) Hellbound
Another anticipated Netflix K-drama, Hellbound, is coming in the fourth quarter of 2024. Netflix officially announced that Hellbound season 2 will feature at the 29th Busan International Film Festival, scheduled between October 2 and 11, 2024.
Adapted from the webtoon Hell, this drama was released in 2021. The drama depicts a dystopian world divided into two timelines - one going through the change and another after the change.
This Netflix K-drama revolves around the activities of the New Truth Society, a religious cult. The people can see the grey, smokey giant figures predicting their death timing, and the drama develops the narrative further with more chaos and complications.
5) Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Extraordinary Attorney Woo, a lighthearted K-drama, was released in 2022. The drama garnered appreciation among Netflix streamers due to its unique plot and execution. The second season is slated for release in 2024, and the exact date is yet to be announced.
Park Eun-bin played the character of Woo Young-woo, a lawyer on the autism spectrum. Since her childhood, she has avoided crowds and showcased other basic characteristics of autism. On the other hand, the Netflix K-drama attempts to break the misconception regarding autism.
Season 1 concludes with the introduction of Woo's mother, where Woo reveals her wish to be independent. The second season will further develop the narrative.
Apart from these listed Netflix K-dramas, the streaming giant is also bringing the second season of Weak Hero Class. Starring Park Ji-hoon, Lee Min-jae, and Choi Min-young, this drama created quite a suspense in the first season, and the release date of the upcoming season is yet to be announced.
