1) The Astronaut

It was in October 2022 that the official music video for The Astronaut was launched, a solo track by BTS' Jin. The elder member of BTS co-wrote this song along with Coldplay. This union marked the second collaboration between Coldplay and BTS after My Universe, which was released in 2021.

The Astronaut is a love song, highlighting the chemistry between Jin and a girl in the music video. The girl is compared to a star, capable of dispelling all the darkness of the sky.

Metaphorically, Jin seems to suggest that the girl represents the ARMY, the fan base of BTS, which came to his aimless life and provided him with a purpose.

This song is filled with several metaphors and symbolism, emphasizing BTS' Jin's prowess in songwriting. In this solo track, he brought in astronomical terms like 'Universe', 'Star' etc, aligning the first collaboration song with Coldplay.

" You and me / Like a star that doesn't shatter / Becoming your dream / To travel throughout the universe"

2) Abyss

Jin surprised his fans on his 28th birthday with this song. It was on December 4 that he dropped Abyss, which was co-authored by Jin, RM, Pdogg, and Bumzu, expressing his feeling of burnout as well as gratitude toward ARMY.

Along with the song, Jin shared a personal letter, which began with:

"I don’t want to share my sad emotions with the fans because I only want to show the positive side."

He also mentioned:

"Honestly I’ve felt burnt out recently"

This super melodious song may seem like a love song, highlighting a lover's longing, fear, and other intense emotions. However, the song is seemingly dedicated to the ARMY, which represents Jin's desire to be closer to them.

" My voice doesn't come out, I just circle around / That dark place that I wanted to be lost in, I want to go there / I'll be there / Today again, I circle around you"

Stay was penned after the cancellation of Map of the Soul World Tour due to COVID. Stay is co-written by BTS' Jin, Jungkook, RM and Arston. This 3.25-minute-long song was released in November 2020, and accompanied by a personal note from Bighit Entertainment in a Weverse post, which read:

"This album is made more special by direct involvement from BTS in not only the music, but from the concept and composition to design. You will discover throughout the album the thoughts, emotions, and deepest reflections of BTS while experiencing an even richer musical spectrum."

The song depicts the voids that are found in dreams. The lyrics highlight the connection between BTS and its ARMY and emphasize staying with the idols, irrespective of the place.

The song ends with:

"I tell you with dry lips / Stay /Where that cloud passed by / Stay, stay, stay, stay (Always)"

4) Moon

After his solo track Love Yourself: Answer in 2018, BTS' Jin dropped Moon in February 2020. The song is co-authored by Jin, Daniel Caesar, Dj Swivel, Candace Sosa, ADORA, Ludwig Lindell, Slow Rabbit, and RM. It is from the album Map of the Soul: 7.

The song was released after the filming of Bon Voyage Season 4, a variety show, where BTS' Jin and RM were together. After the announcement of the song, ARMY expected Moon to be a collaboration between these two, but it came out as a solo track.

Metaphors are quite common in Jin's songs and Moon is no exception. The moon symbolizes a little satellite that circles Earth, the bigger planet. The lyrics also depict how insignificant and small he is before his fan base.

" I didn't even have a name / Until I met you / You gave me your love / And now have become my reason"

5) Tonight

In 2019, Tonight was released on the 3rd day of BTS Fiesta, which is an 11-day-long online show to mark their debut anniversary. This song is co-authored by BTS' Jin along with Slow Rabbit, Hiss Noise, and RM.

Tonight is a special song for Jin as he wrote it as a memoir of his pets. In 2018 and 2019, he lost two of his pets - a Sugar Glider and a Maltese dog, named Eomuk and Jjangu respectively.

This sorrowful song highlights the idol's deep emotions toward them as they cannot be touched or seen further. Jin talks about how their faces made him smile every day.

"In my every day / You are there / In your every day / I'm there"

6) Super Tuna

Super Tuna is a fun song written by Jin and Bumzu, which was released on his 29th birthday in 2021. Jin felt the need to have a fishing song and he reportedly wrote it in just 5 minutes, when he went fishing with Bumzu.

Fans would find this song different from other BTS tracks as it is filled with fun elements. After 2 years and 8 months, the song reached 100 million streams on YouTube, making it one of the important tracks of Jin.

The song begins with:

"My heart is beating, flap-flap / Where did my fish go?"

The song adds more fun elements with the lyrics:

"At that moment the tuna asked me / Hyung, hyung, please take me"

As a songwriter, BTS' Jin has showcased his prowess in all of his songs. Through the lyrics he tries to connect with his fans, making them relatable and simple.
