1) He wanted to become a Taekwondo athlete
Wonho was deeply passionate about Taekwondo and aspired to become a professional athlete. However, injuries during his training forced him to explore other passions, so he pursued music. During Monsta X's We Are Here concert in Seoul, he shared:
"My childhood dream was to become a Taekwondo athlete."
Nonetheless, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to debut as a member of Monsta X. He shared that being able to stand on stage alongside his fellow members, whom he holds dear, was a fulfilling experience.
2) He was once SISTAR's backup dance
Before debuting with Monsta X, he worked as a backup dancer for the now-disbanded girl group SISTAR. His dedication was evident during a live performance of SISTAR’s hit song Ma Boy, where he supported the group as a backup dancer. Through this role, he gained invaluable stage experience, laying a solid foundation for his future as a K-pop idol.
3) He has acrophobia- fear of heights
Despite his confident stage persona, Wonho has admitted to being afraid of heights. During an episode of the Monsta X reality show Right Now, he was visibly terrified during the bungee-jumping challenge. He even cried when it was his turn to jump. Even during the rooftop shoot of Monsta X's music video Hero, the K-pop idol had to reportedly take medication to get through the shoot.
4) He broke his fingers during Monsta X's debut MV shoot
While filming Monsta X's debut music video for Trespass, he broke his fingers but didn't realize it due to his intense focus on the performance. This story was published in an interview with SBS PopAsia, where Monsta X members shared behind-the-scenes anecdotes from their debut days. Despite the pain, Wonho continued dancing and filming for over 24 hours.
5) He was a part of Nu Boyz before Monsta X
Before officially debuting with Monsta X, he was part of a pre-debut unit called Nu Boyz, formed by Starship Entertainment in August 2014. The group included his labelmates Shownu, Jooheon, and #Gun. Although Nu Boyz did not officially debut, Wonho was chosen to debut as part of Monsta X alongside Shownu, Jooheon, and four other participants.
