The first two episodes of the new K-drama, A Virtuous Business, were released on October 12 and 13 on the JBTC television network and Netflix. The show, which took over Saturday and Sunday 22:30 KST slots of JBTC, features Kim So-yeon, Kim Sun-young, Kim Sung-ryung, Lee Se-hee, and Yeon Woo-jin in the leading roles, besides other supporting characters. The show will have a total of 12 episodes in season 1.
The story focuses on the freedom, growth, and camaraderie of four women who began the door-to-door sale of adult items in a rural community in 1992. It is a tale about women who were progressive in an era when s*x remained a taboo subject. Yet they successfully infused vitality into the hidden realm of s*xual interactions and flourished independently.
The first two episodes of A Virtuous Business showed Jeong-suk learning about the business of lingerie and s*xual products. She eventually teamed up with three other ladies who shared her vision. The job, which Jeong-suk began out of hesitation and necessity, gave her confidence and support.

A Virtuous Business episode 1 recap: Jeong-suk’s need for money lands her in an unusual job role
The first episode of A Virtuous Business began by presenting Han Jeong-suk's troubles in Guemje. Because she was not financially secure, she struggled to handle her son's expenses, household expenses, and other financial obligations. Jeong-suk's spouse, Kwon Seong-su, appeared to be a careless person who couldn't even keep his work. He even wasted his family funds and house rent money on alcohol after losing his recent job at a factory.
This disappointed Jeong-suk, but she continued to hunt for work apart from her current gig as O Geum-hui's cleaner. Following multiple employment rejections, Jeong-suk contacted Fantasy, a company that marketed lingerie and adult toys.
She found a job posting for home sales of the company's items. At first, she was apprehensive owing to the typical nature of the community. Still, her need for money eventually won, and she made the first step toward working in the lingerie and adult toys business. At the company's home sales session, Jeong-suk met Seo Young-bok. The two females decided to sell Fantasy products to the women of Geumje.
The first episode of A Virtuous Business also included the arrival of Kim Do-hyeon, who joined Geumje's police team as a detective. Kim Do-hyeon appeared to have an ulterior motive for working as a detective in the small town. He appeared to be conducting an investigation.
Jeong-suk was strategizing the location and method for conducting the sales session for her products. Consequently, she solicited O Geum-hui's permission to conduct the first sales session at her home. Geum-hui consented to Jeong-suk's needs, and they secretly organized the sales session.
They invited multiple women to showcase their products, which included lingerie, silk slips, and vibrators. Initially, ladies regarded Jeong-su with disdain for pursuing such employment to earn income. She struggled to sell any products. An individual also lodged a complaint against Jeong-suk and Geum-hui, alleging that they were operating a prostitution business at the latter's residence.
Detective Kim Do-hyeon and another investigator arrived at Guem-hui's house to investigate a tip received from an anonymous source. They were taken aback when they found lingerie items at Geum-hui's place. However, no significant events occurred. Kim Do-hyeon contemplated Jeong-suk's endeavors, questioning the rationale behind what she was doing.
After the police left, Guem-hui's husband entered the residence and was astonished by his wife's actions. He promptly requested her to stop all activities; however, Guem-hui was reluctant to change her mind and instead grew increasingly fascinated by Jeong-suk's work, perceiving it as enjoyable.
In addition to Geum-hui, Lee Ju-ri, who operated a salon in Guemje, also expressed interest in Jeong-suk's venture. Ju-ri was a single mother to a son. She was among Jeong-suk's initial buyers when he first started selling products.
Shortly after that, Jeong-suk was ridiculed in the city of Geumje. Nevertheless, she did not wish to abandon her numerous responsibilities. Kwon Seong-su requested Jeong-su to end her work upon overhearing negative comments about his wife. Jeong-su declined to withdraw. Therefore, her husband left the house. Kwon Seong-su went to the home of Jeong-suk's friend.
Towards the end of the first episode of A Virtuous Business, Jeong-suk visited her friend Seong Mi-hwa's residence to show her initial earnings to her spouse. Upon her arrival, she caught Mi-hwa and Seong-su engaged in s*xual intercourse.
A Virtuous Business episode 2 recap: Jeong-suk, Ju-ri, Young-bok, and Guem-hui join hands in new business
The second episode of A Virtuous Business picked up where the first left off. Jeong-suk was startled and unhappy to witness her husband with her friend. She quickly fled Mi-hwa's house when they noticed her and attempted to stop her. She persisted in her work despite feeling devastated by her husband's infidelity.
When she met Ju-ri, she told Jeong-suk that she tested every hair color before delivering it to her clientele. Jeong-suk opted to sample her items before pitching them to other women in Geumje. Jeong-suk and Young-bok tested their products and were confident and pleased with the results.
They once again asked Guem-hui to allow them to hold another sales session in her home. Guem-hui consented to the request. This time, they were able to sell all of their stock. Jeong-suk invited Ju-ri to this sales session. As a result, Jeong-suk's previous customer, Ju-ri, joined her in her work.
Kim Do-hyeon, who debuted as the detective in the first episode, moved to a new house in Geumje. He lived in a secluded part of the city.
Later in the episode, Geum-hui told Jeong-suk she would join her field of work despite her husband's objections. Later in this episode of A Virtuous Business, Jeong-su's friend, Mi-hwa, apologized to her, fearing that Jeong-suk might divulge her secret to her husband. Ju-ri and Young-bok overheard the conversation.
Therefore, Geum-hui, Ju-ri, and Young-bok attempted to seek revenge on her by tossing a bucket of unclean water at her while she was in the restroom. Toward the end of this episode of A Virtuous Business, Jeongk was preparing her son for school. As soon as he walked out, she noticed someone had written the S*X word on her wall. This somewhat frightened Jeong-su and the episode concluded.
