Lee Jong-suk set to star in legal drama Seocho-dong, directed by Park Seung-woo: Insights into the plot, characters, and production
The series Seocho-dong (literal title) follows the journey of an assistant lawyer who finds both love and work at a law firm in Seochodong. Set in Seocho-dong Law Town, this vibrant youth drama shines a light on lawyers as everyday office workers.
Written by a practicing lawyer, the show provides a realistic look at the legal profession, focusing on young lawyers' growth and challenges as they tackle cases inspired by real-life events. Lee Jong-suk stars as Ahn Joo-hyung, a lawyer with nine years of experience who excels in logical reasoning and case analysis. Unlike those driven by justice or a desire to help others, Joo-hyung is motivated by the intellectual challenges of his work.
He has remained with the same law firm for nearly a decade, becoming a seasoned associate with an impressive salary. Despite his success, he has no interest in starting his own practice; the thought seems too burdensome.
However, Joo-hyung's comfortable routine begins to unravel. Although he is well-regarded in his field, his straightforward nature leads him to question the purpose of his work. As he navigates his daily tasks, unforeseen challenges disrupt his once-stable life, forcing him to confront the reality of his choices and motivations.
The series is directed by Park Seung-woo, known for his nuanced direction in dramas like Kairos (2020) and Adamas (2022).
