This year, many K-pop idols have taken the South Korean nationwide entrance exam, the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), while some have decided to skip it. The CSAT, also known as Suneung in Korean, is officially held every year on November 14, and most high schoolers prepare for this exam throughout their academic lives.
The exam covers a wide range of subjects, including languages, Science, Social Studies, and Classic Chinese language, lasting for an intense eight hours. With the official age for taking the exam set at 18, K-pop idols born in 2006 are now eligible to participate.
BOYNEXTDOOR’s vocalist Woonhak sat for the exam this year, joined by other K-pop idols such as Seungmo and Mackiah from AMPERS&ONE. This year marks the participation of fifth-generation K-pop idols in the exam.

1) Woonhak from BOYNEXTDOOR
BOYNEXTDOOR's vocalist, Woonhak, took the CSAT exam this year. On November 29, he will officially turn 18. The singer graduated from Sanui Elementary School and YeonMu Middle School, and he is currently studying at Hanlim Arts High School.
2) Seungmo from AMPERS&ONE
On July 3, the fifth-generation K-pop idol of AMPERS&ONE, Seungmo, turned 18 and became eligible for the CSAT exam. After graduating from Sangsin Middle School, he is currently enrolled in Hallym Entertainment Arts High School.
3) Mackiah from AMPERS&ONE
Another AMPERS&ONE member, Mackiah Mercer, was born on January 21, 2006, in Sydney, Australia. This year, he reached the qualifying age to sit for the CSAT examination. The idol has graduated from Epping Heights Public School.
4) Park Jihoo from EVNNE
Park Jihoo, also known as Edward Park, turned 18 in July this year and took the CSAT exam yesterday. In 2022, the idol debuted under Jellyfish Entertainment, while continuing his studies at Hanlim Multi Art School.
5) On:N from ALL(H)OURS
The maknae (youngest member) of ALL(H)OURS, On:N, debuted in 2021 under EDEN Entertainment. The lead vocalist will turn 18 on December 8 this year. He is eligible for the CSAT exam and is attending the Hanlim Multi Art School.
6) Dogyun from 82MAJOR
Another fifth-generation K-pop idol, Kim Do-gyun, who turned 18 on September 14, sat for the College Scholastic Ability Test yesterday. He debuted under Great M Entertainment in 2023, after graduating from Uirim Elementary School and Jecheon Middle School. Currently, Dogyun is enrolled in Hallym Entertainment Arts High School.
6) Eunseop from LUN8
Kim Eun-seop, the vocalist of LUN8, is enrolled in the broadcasting entertainment program at Seoul Broadcasting High School. He celebrated his 18th birthday in June, and he is a graduate of both Wadong Elementary and Wadong Middle School.
7) Lapillus’s Seowon
Born in December 2006, Jang Seowon is just a few days away from turning 18. She debuted with MLD Entertainment on August 17, 2020, and graduated from Wolgye Middle School.
8) Kelly from BADVILLAIN
Kelly, who debuted this year under BPM Entertainment with the album Overstep, took her CSAT exam yesterday. She turned 18 on June 16, speaks English fluently, and is currently attending Seoul Broadcasting High School.
Besides the K-pop idols mentioned, Soha from SAY MY NAME and N from NCHIVE appeared for the exam yesterday. Furthermore, Train to Busan star Kim Su-an also took the exam this year.
On the other hand, several idols opted out this time, such as NewJeans’ Haerin, LE SSERAFIM’s Eunchae, NMIXX’s Kyujin, TWS’s Jihoon, FIFTY FIFTY’s Hana, tripleS’s ShiOn, YOUNG POSSE’s Jiana, ALL(H)OURS’s Hyunbin, SAYMYNAME’s Dohee, and RESCENE’s Liv.
