Bad Memory Eraser episode 2 recap: Surgery alters Lee Goon's outlook on life
The second episode opens with Kyung Ju Yeon experimenting on the 109th subject. While working, she thinks of Lee Goon, who became her 108th subject at the end of the first episode. She feels her rude behavior towards him caused Goon’s accident. But, she is relieved as the clinical trial of the Bad Memory Eraser on Goon went well.
Ju Hyeon then enters Goon’s room. He hugs her and says she is his first love (the girl who saved him in the past). The doctors test Goon and find no side effects in their experiment.
Filled with curiosity, Goon’s parents ask him if he remembers them. His brother, Lee Shin, asks him about the last memory he has. Goon replies that the Junior Championship of 2007 is his last memory. Hearing this, Shin seems disappointed. He tells Goon to rest and not stress over it as he recently underwent surgery.
When Goon’s parents and Shin speak to the doctor, he tells him that Goon only remembers the time in his childhood when he played tennis. He adds it is among Goon’s good memories that all his bad memories are erased as part of their Bad Memory Eraser trial. The doctor also tells them they should keep Goon away from everything that can trigger his bad memories.
Meanwhile, Goon starts loving himself, admires his looks, and becomes more confident about his life. He becomes more stylish and goes through a transformation following his experiment.
Ju Yeon keeps thinking about how Goon believes she is his first love. Goon once again blocks Ju Yeon’s way and asks her if she remembers him or not. She refuses and tells him he is confused and she is just his doctor.
In the next scene, Goon is reported missing from the hospital. While everyone is looking for him, Shin goes home and finds Goon standing there, looking at the tennis rackets hanging on the wall. He is trying to regain his lost memories.
Shin approaches Goon and lies to him about his room and lifestyle. Shin tells Goon that both his room and all of his expensive watches, clothes, and cars are his. After some time, their parents enter the scene and inform Goon he has already retired as a tennis player to run a company.
They further add that he currently works with Big Sports Agency to learn more about how to run his company. Goon finds it hard to believe that he quit tennis for business.
Meanwhile, Ju Yeon hesitantly tells his senior researcher that there has been a fault during their clinical trial on Goon. She tells him that besides removing bad memories, some manipulated memories are also created in Goon’s mind. She also says that Goon thinks of her as his first love.
The senior researcher asks Ju Yeon to pretend to be Goon’s lover as long as they find the cause of the error and fix it, as the patient’s life depends on it.
Lee Goon returns to the hospital, and Nurse Song, while changing his dressing, tells him how Ju Yeon took care of him without breaks when he was not well. This brings a smile to his face, and he then meets Ju Yeon and tells her he remembers her.
Lee Shin is shooting for an ad campaign with Cha Si On. Here, Cha Si On learns about Goon’s ill health. Therefore, she meets him at the hospital and gifts him a tennis racket. While talking to him, she tries to remind him of their recent meeting at the agency. She also adds that she was sad when Goon retired from tennis. She also asks him how he lost his medal. This question triggered a memory in Goon’s mind, and soon he faints.
Learning that Goon lost consciousness, Ju Yeon rushes to him, where she meets his friend. His friend tells her that inviting Goon to the class reunion was a mistake. The event at the meeting is talked about with Ju Yeon. He said that Goon came to the gathering and found his medal.
He also saw the girl who had left it there and ran after her to meet her because she was his first love. He followed her until they got to the parking lot, where he saw her with another man. It was his younger brother, Lee Shin. In the same way, Goon's first love became a bad memory.
After this, Ju Yeon goes to Goon's room and meets his mom. She says that he got home and ate before his accident. He was mad that his mother only took care of his younger brother. He yelled at his family and told them how annoyed he was that they were always comparing him to Shin.
He even says she was only Lee Shin's mother and never Goon's. Because she wants to be strong for his boys, his mother says she never shows her pain. However, she cares about and loves both of them.
Listening to his mother, Ju Yeon leaves the room. At the end of this episode, Goon gains consciousness after some time, and he takes his racket (gifted by Cha Si On) and goes to the tennis court. He tries to play when Ju Yeon enters the court. She decides to be Goon’s first love and help him heal.
The second episode of Bad Memory Eraser ends with a police officer approaching Lee Shin in one scene, and a new character entering another scene.
