On October 2, 2024, Jackson Wang went viral online for leaving a heartfelt comment under GOT7's BamBam's X post, where the latter had shared Justin Beiber's song, Changes. Notably, the song was also posted by BamBam on his Instagram story on October 1, and the lyrics touch upon the themes of smiling through pain and struggling.
For the unversed, BamBam has been posting cryptic tweets on X, seemingly hinting at his deteriorating mental health. In July 2024, he shared an Instagram story where he wrote that he wanted to fall asleep and never wake up. Later in September, he posted a series of similar tweets concerning his fandom.
Jackson, who is also a GOT7 member and a close friend of BamBam, wrote in his comment about the alleged harsh realities of the K-pop industry. Jackson elaborated on how people around the artists are busy living their own lives. He advised BamBam to "be more selfish" in terms of setting boundaries for himself and prioritizing his mental health.
"People closely around us specially the industry. The only thing they care about is living their life like you are living urs. Different intentions. It’s facts, it’s reality. We all go through it, just different aspects. Dont take it negatively, Sometimes just gotta be more selfish and get things right for urself," he wrote.
Jackson continued by stressing the importance of making hard choices. He urged his bandmate to "be at a place" where he would "get appreciation." Jackson continued in a following tweet and wrote how much fans love BamBam and wrote,
"It’s not always a bad thing. We all have choices. Make them bam. Be at a place where you get appreciation. Dont forget who u r. Love you for who u r. One more thing, bam. Ur audience love u, U da reason. Not anything else, Not the people, team, label, partners, or anyone else."
K-pop fandoms unite and wrote encouraging comments under BamBam's social media posts to show their support
Earlier, on September 23, 2024, BamBam tweeted on X and apologized to his fans for being "negative and sensitive." He announced that he would take a break and return healthy. His fans showered him with their support and told him to take as long as he needed.
"Don’t need to say sorry, just be yourself and I hope you always happy tooooo. Luk na", wrote one fan.
However, the fans' relief was short-lived. On September 29, 2024, the Made It rapper tweeted on X telling fans that due to the people around him, he feels like dying. Furthermore, in his other cryptic Instagram story from September 30, 2024, he wrote,
"I'll be gone for good 2025"
In his latest Instagram post, he uploaded several pictures of himself and wrote in the caption,
"Remember that life is yours before it's too late"
These tweets sent shockwaves across his fandom and other K-pop fandoms, who banded together to show their support and love for the idol. The BTS fans (ARMY), TXT fans (MOA), Stray Kids fans (STAYs), EXO fans (EXO-L), and SEVENTEEN fans (CARAT) among others, left encouraging comments voicing their support towards the idol and his well-being.
Additionally, South Korean soloist and rapper, Jessi, also commented on BamBam's Instagram post, showing him love and support. Fans were relieved to see that idols like Jessi and Jackson openly voiced their support and reached out to the Made It rapper.
Meanwhile, the rapper is on his ongoing BAMESIS [SHOWCASE TOUR] which has three more shows left on his roster.
On October 19, 2024, BamBam is scheduled to meet his fans at the GBK Basketball Hall, in Jakarta, Indonesia. On October 20, his show will be held at the AXA Dreamland Hall, in Hong Kong.
