Jung Hae-in debuted in the Korean entertainment industry in 2014, featuring in the independent movie The Youth and the TV series Bride of the Century. He took a different route from most actors, starting his acting career after concluding his military training. He is the great-grandson of Jeong Yak-yong, a notable personality in the Joseon era.
In the beginning, Hae-in was focused on learning and did several cameos in independent movies and dramas. The actor even appeared in Gong Yoo's The Guardian: Lonely and great god, where he plays the role of Eun-tak's first love.
However, Hae-in made a name for himself by playing versatile roles in different genres of movies and series, ranging from action to melodramas. He also bagged numerous awards and nominations, and the Grand Bell Award for New Actor is one of them.

1) Love Next Door
Released in August 2024, Jung Hae-in's latest K-drama, Love Next Door, belongs to the romantic comedy genre. The lead duo are childhood friends.
Jung Hae-in portrays the character of Choi Seung-hyo, a calm and rational entrepreneur who runs an architectural firm. On the other hand, Jung So-min plays Syuk-ryo, the female protagonist who returns from America after facing devastation in her career and relationship. She portrays a messy and disorganized character, the opposite of Seung-hyo.
As Syuk-ryo tries to rebuild her life, she and her childhood friend Seung-hyo fall in love. The twist comes when she discovers her illness.

2) While You Were Sleeping
While You Were Sleeping (2017) is a blend of romance, fantasy, and legal elements. The drama features three protagonists - a police officer, a field reporter, and a prosecutor, played by Jung Hae-in, Bae Suzy, and Lee Jong-sook, respectively.
Bae Suzy plays Nam Hong-joo, a woman with prophetic dreams that she later realizes come true, and Lee Jong-suk plays a rookie prosecutor. Jung Hae-in portrays Han Woo-tak, as a caring and handsome police officer.
Overall, While You Were Sleeping is a courtroom drama, and its thrilling elements keep the audience hooked.

3) D.P.
D.P. is adapted from a webtoon by the same name, written by Kim Bo-tong. The director of Hit-and-Run Squad, Han Jun-hee, directed the series, which debuted in 2021. Koo Kyo-hwan and Jung Hae-in play the lead roles.
Jung Hae-in plays the role of a pizza delivery boy named Ahn Jun-ho, who begins his mandatory military service. After the training, he is recruited into the D.P. unit, and there, he meets Koo Kyo-hwan, his partner on a mission.
The second season was released in 2023 and depicts the harsh reality at the military camp.
This series is a Netflix drama and is available on the streaming platform.

4) Something in the Rain
Something in the Rain is a love story with a slow-building romance. Released in 2018, the drama consists of 16 episodes and was written by Kim Eun. The story begins with Yoon Jin-ah, played by Son Ye-jin, and highlights the challenges of an age-gap relationship and the social rejection that comes with it.
Jin-ah is in her mid-thirties and breaks up with her boyfriend, who was cheating. Later, she meets Seo Joon-hee (Jung Hae-in), her best friend's younger brother. Gradually, a sweet love story develops between the two. They struggle between keeping their relationship a secret and finding the courage to go public.

5) Tune In For Love
Tune in For Love, another melodrama by Jung Hae-in, is a movie released in 2019. This movie ends in 122 minutes, and fans can enjoy the simple concept and minimalist elements, creating a calm and cinematic atmosphere.
With Hae-in as the male lead, Kim Go-eun plays the female lead. Hae-in enters a bakery shop, where he meets Mi-soo (Kim Go-eun), and works a part-time job there. Despite having a complicated past, the two fall in love. However, fate keeps pulling them apart, as their timing can never seem to match.
The movie, considered one of the best works of both actors, got numerous nominations. Jung Hae-in bagged awards like the 56th Grand Bell Award for Best New Actor in 2020 and the Popularity Award at the 2019 London East Asia Film Festival, among others.

6) Snowdrop
Snowdrop was embroiled in controversy during its production and release for its portrayal of the Korean Democratic Movement. Starring BLACKPINK's Kim Jisoo and Jung Hae-in, the drama was released in 2021 on the JTBC network and concluded with 16 episodes.
The drama revolves around the love story between North and South Korea. Set in 1987, this historical drama highlights the tumultuous situation in the country when Eun Yeong-ro (Kim Jisoo) unknowingly saves North Korean spy Lim Soo-ho (Jung Hae-in). Despite the situation, the two eventually fall in love.
Apart from the protagonists, the drama has a stellar cast, including Kim Hye-yoon, Kim Min-kyu, and Yoo In-na, among others.

7) 12.12. The Day
12.12. The Day is one of the crucial movies in JungHae-in's acting career, garnering appreciation worldwide. Directed by Kim Sung-su, it became the most successful Korean film of 2023.
Based on the historical setting, this film begins with the assassination of President Park Chung-hee. Later, the whole country is ruled by the military. Chun Doo-kwang, the defense military commander, burst a coup d'état, creating chaos throughout the country.
