BTS' Suga, one of the lead writers and rappers of the group, has contributed his songwriting prowess in numerous tracks. As a songwriter, Min Yoongi, also known as Suga, is quite expressive and pours his emotions into his songs.

He talks about his writing techniques often. On May 19, 2021, in an interview with Rolling Stone, he expressed that most of the lyrics are written based on the demands. He further said,

"Oftentimes, we decide on a theme and then we sort of freely work from the larger overarching theme that we may have. But generally, when I work on a song, I create the beat first and then the melody and the rap and then finally the lyrics. That's generally how I build them."

While he collaborated with other artists like IU, Max, and others, his own produced albums are a testament to his own writeups. He shares the mental breakdowns he has gone through or how he feels grateful for the fame.

Fans can explore his songwriting prowesses through most BTS tracks, but his personal projects, August D and D-Day album, are filled with his personal thoughts and feelings, journeys to fame, and other events of his life.

On August 16, 2016, BTS' Suga published So Far Away, a collaborative track from his solo project August D. The track is co-written by Slow Rabbit and features Forget Me Not singer Shin Su-ran. Next year, BTS' Jin and Jungkook will join Suga for a remix version of So Far Away.

The track highlights BTS' Suga's contradictory feelings regarding dreams and their persuasion. In the beginning, it tells how university knowledge fails to achieve his dreams, and he wants to get drunk in dejection. Later, he tells how dreams demand hardships and toilsome experiences.

He ends the track with,

"So far away / Don't fall away / Dream, I will be there for your creation / Until the end of your life / Dream, wherever you might be / It will be lenient"

In an interview with Zach Sang in March 2021, Suga mentioned that the track is for ARMYs to tell them not to lose hope. He said the writing process also helped him heal during the pandemic.

The lyrics of the song are as follows:

"Everything's fine, right? You're doing well, right? / I feel like I'm, well, floating on air these days / Thanks to having so much time / With this much time I'm writing a song like this / This is a song for you, yeah, song, yeah, song"

BTS' Suga reflects on his two conflicting personalities - Min Yoongi and Suga. While he jotted down about his mental health and how he passed through them, he exhibited his writing prowess by crafting the track.

The lyrics read,

"Your mom's going to be sad / When you lose your only asset, health / I'm sorry, you should change your job / Your ability of making yourself look like a moron / Is extraordinary so change your job, boy"

Daechwita is a track from BTS' Suga's mixtape album D-2, released in May 2020. The track blends traditional Korean instruments with modern-day rap, highlighting the Korean ancient culture.

Daechwita means "a great blow" or "hit" in English, and Suga tried to jot a testament to his success as a global superstar through the lyrics. He wrote,

"I got everything I wanted, what more'll make me feel contented/I wanted clothes clothes, then money money, then goal goal now what's next/Yeah what's next, here comes my reality check there's nowhere higher/I only looked up and now I want to look down and put my feet on the ground/I'm a king I'm a boss/Remember my name."

He mentioned that Burn It was written in 2018, during which he also wrote Seasaw, and wanted to collaboration with an American singer. Later, Max fulfilled the role, and they presented the track after a few edits in the lyrics.

The lyrics read,

"Let's go back to the past days, ey/ The time that had destroyed me, ey/ Jealousy, hatred, and the feeling of inferiority/ The life held captive to resentments, ey/ After tasting success, ey/ What has changed in me compared to then?"

Amygdala signifies a part of the brain responsible for memory and emotions. By highlighting the term, BTS' Suga tries to recall the struggles of his early days, especially the car accident that harmed his shoulder.

Starting from the day he was born to his mother's surgery, the track reflects the memories from his amygdala.

The lyrics read,

"A whole lot was happening back then / Uh-uh, the sound of mom's heart tickin' away in my ears / Uh-uh, my accident that I couldn't even mention / The call I got during my work about father's liver cancer / (Woah-oh) Hoped made the best decisions"

Fans can enjoy more of BTS' Suga's songwriting in other songs like The Last, Song Request, Eternal Sunshine, Interlude, and other tracks.
