BTS' Park Jimin has become the first and only K-pop solo artist to spend 107 days on the Spotify UK Daily Top Songs chart. On November 2, 2024, he became the longest-charting soloist of 2024 as his single, WHO, ranked at No. 4 on the chart with 5,804,417 (+301,478) streams.

The BTS idol's track follows APT. by Rosé and Bruno Mars (#1), Die With A Smile by Lady Gaga with Bruno Mars (#2), and BIRDS OF A FEATHER by Billie Eilish (#3).

WHO, which the BTS idol co-wrote alongside Jon Bellion, GHSTLOOP, and Pdogg, was released on July 19, 2024, as the lead track of MUSE. The track has amassed over 760 million streams (760,639,870) on Spotify, averaging over 40.2 million streams (40,252,424) per week since its release.

Exploring BTS' Jimin's two solo albums, FACE and MUSE, and their achievements

Jimin released his debut solo album, FACE, on March 24, 2023, with the title track Like Crazy. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first K-pop soloist to top the chart in the history of Billboard and K-pop. The album also sold over 1 million copies on Hanteo on the first day of its release.

FACE has five songs that the BTS idol co-wrote with Pdogg, GHSTLOOP, and Evan. The record tackles themes of loneliness, self-doubt, and achieving independence. It was greatly influenced by the emotional toll that the COVID-19 epidemic had on the Grammy-nominated artist as a performer and person.

As per Pdogg and GHSTLOOP's Weverse interview, the BTS idol started working on FACE and MUSE simultaneously in 2022. Pdogg explained that the BTS singer's second solo album was based on his first one and how each track was interconnected.

"Rebirth (Intro)” links MUSE to “Set Me Free Pt. 2,” working to show it’s a new chapter for Jimin. The lyrics build up the excitement in this bubbly way—like he’s carefully checking to see whether it’s okay to show how excited he is. Then “Interlude: Showtime” starts and the true concept behind the album really opens up," Pdogg said.

GHSTLOOP shared that the WHO singer-songwriter was extremely involved in every bit of album creation. However, they all struggled to create and compose WHO as the BTS star was confused about how he wanted to approach the song and if he could ever love someone as portrayed in the lyrics.

"We sat down with Jon Bellion, who produced the song with us, and Jimin briefed us on everything. Jon had this huge whiteboard in his studio, and as Jimin explained everything to him, Jon latched onto what Jimin was saying, like, “Oh, so that’s what he’s looking for,” and wrote it all down."

Pdogg revealed that after meeting Jon Bellion, the BTS idol knew how he wanted to create the track.

"It was clear what Jimin wanted to do with “Who.” He was there with us the whole time, giving us his ideas all throughout. His previous album was designed to be deeply personal, but the new one is more abstract and isn’t strictly about Jimin alone."

MUSE comprises six tracks, including the title single, WHO, the pre-release track Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. Loco), the B-side tracks such as SLOW DANCE (feat. Sofia Carson) and BE MINE along with Rebirth: (Intro), Interlude: SHOWTIME and Closer Than This.

The BTS idol, who enlisted in the South Korean military to fulfill his mandatory 18-month service in December 2023, will return in June 2025 and resume his group activities.
