BTS' Jungkook is all set to release the 'I AM STILL THE ORIGINAL' docu-series on Disney+. On Friday, November 8, BIGHIT MUSIC shared an official notice on Weverse regarding the release of Jungkook's upcoming documentary series, titled <JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL> THE ORIGINAL.
Before enlisting in the military, the maknae of BTS marked his official solo debut in July 2023, followed by the release of his first solo album, GOLDEN, in November of the same year. The upcoming documentary will showcase the making and the eight-month promotion of his solo music from 2023.
Previously, BIGHIT MUSIC premiered two documentary films, ‘I AM STILL’ and ‘I AM STILL WITH YOU’ Party Edition. The documentary will now be available on the OTT platform Disney+ as a three-episode series on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 5 pm KST.
The documentary will also showcase unseen interview clips, behind-the-scenes footage, and the full version of the live performance titled ‘Jung Kook ‘GOLDEN’ Live On Stage’.
BTS’ Jungkook’s documentary I AM STILL becomes 8th highest-grossing concert film at the International Box Office
BTS Jungkook’s first solo documentary film, titled I AM STILL, premiered on September 18, 2024, and as per The Numbers’ statistics, it earned 11.65 million USD dollars globally within 11 days of its release on October 4.
The film became the 8th highest-grossing concert film in International Box office history as per the reports by the World Music Awards on X on October 16. The documentary film earned 15.7 million USD worldwide to reach the feat.
Furthermore, the documentary film became the highest-grossing Music Cinema Event as it joined the league of concert films surpassing 10 million USD in revenue on the international box office.
Notably, Jungkook has now joined renowned artists Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Madonna as the only few solo musicians to earn 10 million USD in revenue through a concert movie.
On October 11, 2024, BIGHIT MUSIC premiered the 'I AM STILL WITH YOU' party edition, an extended version of the documentary film on limited cinema screens.
The extended version included a 20-minute long sing-along clip which was showcased at the start of the documentary.
BTS Jungkook's first solo album, GOLDEN, marks 1st anniversary
BTS’ Jungkook released GOLDEN on November 3, 2023, with the title track Standing Next to You. The all-English album includes 10 songs besides the title track: 3D (feat. Jack Harlow), Closer to You (feat. Major Lazer), Seven (feat. Latto) Explicit and Clean version, Yes or No, Please Don't Change (feat. DJ Snake), Hate You, Somebody, Too Sad to Dance, and Shot Glass of Tears.
On November 3, 2024, the album completed one year after its official release, and a day after its anniversary on November 4, Standing Next to You surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify, becoming the fastest track by a K-pop artist to reach this milestone.
Notably, GOLDEN is the first and only K-pop album to amass 4 billion streams on Spotify.
Jungkook's debut single Seven, featuring American rapper Latto, has streams of over two billion on the Swedish music service platform.
Currently, Jungkook is completing his military service alongside his fellow BTS member Jimin.
He is expected to be discharged from his national duties in 2025. Meanwhile, I AM STILL The Original is scheduled to be released on December 3, 2024 on Disney+.
