BTS announced their temporary hiatus during their FESTA dinner celebration on June 14, 2022. The members went live via Weverse to inform their fans that they would take a short break to complete their mandatory military enlistment and return by 2025 to resume group activities.

From June 2022 to December 2023, all members dabbled in their solo projects and pre-filmed content that fans could enjoy till the members returned. Jung Hoseok, aka j-hope, was the first to release his debut solo project, Jack in The Box, on July 15, 2022, followed by Jin's debut solo single, The Astronaut, on October 28, 2022.

The members have given a nod to the group's legacy and the number "7" in their respective solo projects.

7 times when the BTS members represented their band in their solo projects

Here's a list of 7 times the members gave an ode to express their love for the band:

1) Kim Namjoon, aka RM

The group leader, Kim Namjoon, aka RM, first used the "7" symbolism in his mixtape, mono, released on October 23, 2018. The tape's title track, Forever Rain's MV, was an animation that showed the idol standing as six different shadows formed on the floor around him. Fans noted that the shadows represented each band member, while Namjoon was the seventh one.

Furthermore, his song, Domodachi (feat. Little Simz), from his second solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person, underscored his love for his members as well.

Fans believed that it was j-hope's way of giving a shoutout to his bandmates. Later, when he released Jack in The Box on July 15, 2022, it also had Taehyung's cameo appearance in it.

Furthermore, fans also noted that the Jack in The Box album cover image had seven hands drawn on it—another symbolism for the band's number "7."

The title track's official MV and the practice video both had six other male dancers and actors alongside him. ARMY (BTS fans) were delighted to see that the members have continued with their subtle symbolism of giving a shoutout to the BTS members in their solo projects.

Furthermore, during his solo world tour, SUGA performed songs at his concerts with the acoustic guitar signed by all his members.

Despite being the first one to enlist in the South Korean military, the singer managed to release his debut solo single, The Astronaut, in collaboration with the British band Coldplay on October 28, 2022. In the concept photoshoot "Outlander" for the song, BTS' Jin was surrounded by 6 planets. Fans deciphered this as a subtle hint at the idol and his six band members.
