On January 26, 2025, a new photograph of BTS member Kim Taehyung, popularly known as V, donning his Special Duty Team (SDT) uniform went viral on social media platforms. The image, originally posted by @Taehyungimpact, showcased him in full camouflaged military attire, talking to an individual.

BTS' V enlisted in the Republic of Korea Army on December 11, 2023, alongside BTS leader Kim Namjoon (RM). Following their initial training, both artists graduated at the top of their class in January 2024 and were among the four elite soldiers in a batch of 200 recruits. Subsequently, he was deployed to the II Corps, nicknamed "Double Dragons," serving in the Special Duty Team (SDT) unit.

The SDT is a specialized division within the South Korean military, focusing on counter-terrorism and special operations. Often compared to the United States' SWAT teams, SDT units are tasked with high-risk missions, including urban combat and hostage rescue. Members undergo rigorous training to prepare for these demanding roles.

The recent photograph of the BTS idol in SDT uniform reignited admiration among fans, who flooded social media to express their pride and support. Comments highlight his dedication and the physical transformation resulting from his intensive training.

"MY CAPTAIN KOREA!!! KIM TAEHYUNG!!!!" one fan remarked.

Meanwhile, several fans were delighted to see a new picture and update of the BTS idol.

"He is so breathtaking from the moment I saw him blood tears & sweat mv. It feels like watching him for the first time all over again," one fan wrote.
"Glimpse of tae's face missed him a lot," another fan commented.
"BABY WAKE UP… NEW CAPTAIN TAEHYUNG PICTURE JUST DROPPED!" another fan added.

Some fans speculated that the viral image might be from an earlier event in June 2024, when BTS' V attended a soccer match with his comrades in Chuncheon.

"This is not a recent photo of Taehyung, That was when he watched a soccer match in Chuncheon," a fan wrote.
"Badge seems to have two lines, think its not too recent. Happy anyways," another fan remarked.
"He looks so much slimmer!! is this old? Missed you darling!!" another fan noted.

BTS' Taehyung completes intensive cold weather training with South Korea's Special Duty Team

In December 2023, Kim Taehyung commenced his mandatory military service in South Korea. Following his enlistment, he applied for and was accepted into the Special Duty Team (SDT) of the Army Capital Defense Command, a unit renowned for its rigorous selection process and specialized operations.

In January 2025, he and his unit underwent a 10-day extreme cold weather training program. This training is designed to prepare soldiers for operations in harsh winter conditions, testing their physical endurance and mental resilience. The program includes activities such as survival skills, navigation, and combat exercises in sub-zero temperatures.

On January 19, 2025, the BTS idol updated fans via his Instagram story, indicating the completion of his cold weather training. He shared his current music preferences, including BLACKPINK Rosé's song Stay a Little Longer, providing a glimpse into his personal moments during service.

BTS ARMY, the dedicated fanbase of the group, expressed immense pride and concern for Taehyung during this period.

Previously, in June 2024, he was spotted patrolling at the Chuncheon 2024 Veteran Cultural Festival in his SDT uniform, engaging with fellow soldiers and attendees.

As of January 2025, BTS' V continues to fulfill his duties with the SDT. Fans eagerly anticipate his return to civilian life and the music industry, with expectations high for his post-service endeavors.
