During Coldplay's recent concert in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, India, on January 26, 2025, Coldplay delighted fans by giving a shoutout to BTS in front of a 132,000 audience. This gesture was met with overwhelming enthusiasm from the audience, especially from the global BTS ARMY, who took to social media to express their appreciation.

The concert, which was live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar, allowed fans across India to partake in the experience. During My Universe, Coldplay's lead singer, Chris Martin, said:

"Now we are gonna sing in Korean. We are gonna sing for who you love. We are gonna sing for our brothers, BTS."

This isn't the first time Coldplay paid homage to the K-pop group during a live performance. On June 30, 2024, at the Glastonbury Festival, Coldplay surprised attendees by incorporating projections of BTS members on a large pyramid during their My Universe performance.

The collaboration between Coldplay and the K-pop group began with the release of My Universe in 2021. The track also earned both the groups Grammy nominations for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in 2023. Later, the groups became close friends as Chris Martin gifted a song to BTS' Jin along with his favorite guitar.

Fans consistently expressed appreciation for Coldplay's acknowledgments of the K-pop group during live shows.

"Chris will always find a way to mention our boys," one fan commented.

Fans noted that despite BTS' physical absence due to mandatory military service commitments, their presence was felt through Coldplay's visual tributes.

"I love him for always mentioning them and singing in Korean," a fan wrote.
"Coldtan has gotta be the best thing that ever happened to us man! i love them," another fan said.
"One of the most wholesome collab they did. I love how much respect and adoration both have for each other. Would love to see more of it after their discharge," another fan added.

Several fans lauded the friendship between the two music bands and praised Coldplay for singing the song in Korean at their Indian concert.

"Coldtan is proof that in the darkest of times love, friendships, family of spirit, can and does grow. I hold this close to my heart right now and going into the next 4yrs," a fan commented.
"This is one of the reasons why I have so much respect for Coldplay," another fan stated.
"The fact that he’s singing in Korean is mad respect. Coldplay is so wholesome," one other fan added.

Coldplay performed in front of 132,000 Indian fans, gave shoutout to BTS & Bumrah, invited Jasleen Royal, and more

During their Indian concert, Coldplay featured guest performances from Indian pop sensation Jasleen Royal. Additionally, Palestinian-Chilean artist Elyanna and Zimbabwean singer Shone ZW graced the stage during their Indian concert.

Alongside BTS, the band also gave a shoutout to Indian fast-bowler, Jaspreet Bumrah, as the cricketer attended the Ahmedabad concert. On January 26, 2025, on the occasion of India's Republic Day, Chris Martin also sang India's national song, Vande Mataram, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

In January 2025, Coldplay took their Music of the Spheres World Tour to India. The British band scheduled five concerts across Mumbai and Ahmedabad, marking a significant return to India since their last performance in 2016 for the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai amidst their A Head Full of Dreams World Tour.

Coldplay's India tour commenced at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium, with concerts on January 18 and 19, and an additional show on the 21st due to overwhelming demand. The initial announcement included two dates, but the rapid sell-out prompted the band to add a third show to accommodate eager fans.

Following their Mumbai shows, Coldplay performed at the world's largest Cricket Stadium Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with a capacity of 132,000, on January 25 and 26.

In other news, BTS' Namjoon, Jimin, SUGA, Taehyung, and Jungkook will be discharged from their mandatory military service in June 2025. BTS' Jin and j-hope completed their military conscription in June and October 2024, respectively.
