Dear Hyeri ep 5-6 recap: Joo Eun-ho bids farewell to Jung Hyun-oh

In Dear Hyeri episode 5, Joo Eun-ho saw Jung Hyun-oh looking after her, and she felt at ease. He took her to the hospital because he was worried about Joo Eun-ho, and she informed him that she had been consulting a doctor. When they reached the hospital, Jung Hyun-oh could not accompany her inside. Joo Eun-ho spoke to her doctor about Hyeri, her split personality based on her younger sister.

Joo Eun-ho informed her doctor about receiving a letter from Hyeri, who said she was happy and wanted to stay in her body forever. The doctor asked her to describe her sister Hyeri (Kim Si-eun) and who she was as a person, which reminded her of their childhood.

After their parents passed away due to a car accident, Joo Eun-ho and Hyeri were raised by a distant grandmother in their family. While Joo Eun-ho believed that they were in debt to the grandmother who had been generous in raising them, Hyeri was a happy-go-lucky person who believed that the grandmother loved them.

Joo Eun-ho forced Hyeri to go on the high school graduation trip and make friends as it would help her survive in society later when she becomes independent. However, things took a wrong turn and Hyeri went missing. After the incident, the grandmother also passed away, leaving Joo Eun-ho all alone.

Joo Eun-ho tried to do everything Hyeri wanted to see if she would be happy like her if she experienced her life and developed dissociative identity disorder. Later, when Joo Eun-ho and Jung Hyun-oh returned home after grocery shopping. Kang Ju-yeon (played by Kang Hoon), who recently learned that Hyeri is announcer Joo Eun-ho’s younger sister, saw them from afar.

The next day, Joo Eun-ho and Jung Hyun-oh decided to go for lunch but the latter had to cancel the plan as one of his grandmothers got into an accident. Just when it seemed that the two had gotten back together, Jung Hyun-oh left the house hastily, making Joo Eun-ho realize that they had broken up.

By the end of episode 5 of Dear Hyeri, Jung Hyun-oh returned for a moment, asking her to get sick sometimes so that he can return but Joo Eun-ho replied no as she was reminded of their painful breakup. As a form of revenge, she said she would be as healthy as she could and bid him farewell with a smile.

In Dear Hyeri episode 6, Jung Hyun-oh and his relationship with the five grandmothers was explained. During his childhood, Jung Hyun-oh’s mother left him with his gambler father. When Jung Hyun-oh was in middle school, his father had over 100 million KRW to repay to an old loan shark lady who ran a gambling house.

His father tragically passed away as their house caught fire and the grandmother took Jung Hyun-oh in, saying she would waive his father's loan. The grandma decided to raise him to pay for his school and college expenses until he became a TV personality. However, the grandmother proposed a condition that he would have to repay her kindness when she and the four other grandmothers get old.

Later, at work, Joo Eun-ho learned that Jung Hyun-oh turned down the 9 pm news broadcast so that she could keep her noon news. She was infuriated as she was aware of her skills and shortcomings. Despite being an embarrassing girlfriend to Jung Hyun-oh, Joo Eun-ho did her best to work by herself, not create any hindrance in his way, and also wished he would become a 9 pm news anchor.

After hearing about the incident, she believed that he looked down on her, and she asked him to live his life however he wished and not be so generous. Joo Eun-ho told him to get that position back. By the end of Dear Hyeri episode 6, Joo Eun-ho returned to the parking lot as Hyeri and met Kang Ju-yeon after being away for a while. It is yet to be seen what happens next on Dear Hyeri.

Dear Hyeri airs every Monday and Tuesday on ENA and Rakuten Viki.
