In the recent developments of Dear Hyeri, Joo Eun-ho, who could not become Hyeri, bid farewell to Kang Ju-yeon and expressed her gratitude for liking her for who she was.
Dear Hyeri episodes 9 & 10 recap: Joo Eun-ho lets go of Hyeri
In Dear Hyeri episode 9, Kang Ju-yeon told Jung Hyun-oh that he liked Hyeri very much and knew she was not real. He wanted to share this with her even if she was Joo Eun-ho. However, he could not reach out to Joo Eun-ho, and out of concern, he reached out to Jung Hyun-oh, her ex-boyfriend. Jung Hyun-oh appeared to be shocked.
However, he was more surprised that Joo Eun-ho’s split personality, Hyeri, dated someone else. Kang Ju-yeon called him out, asking whether he truly cared about her, as Jung Hyun-oh was only concerned that Joo Eun-ho's alter ego Hyeri dated Kang Ju-yeon. Kang Ju-yeon also emphasized how lonely she must have felt to leave everything behind and not stay in contact with anyone.
Jung Hyun-oh recalled all the times Joo Eun-ho sent him a signal, and he failed to receive it. He visited the psychiatrist Joo Eun-ho was seeing for her dissociative personality disorder to learn more about Hyeri. The doctor refused to share information as it was confidential, but she said she would receive his help only if Joo Eun-ho allowed it in the future.
The doctor asked Jung Hyun-oh to share how he felt after learning about Joo Eun-ho’s illness. Jung Hyun-oh said he was heartbroken to learn about it from her second personality’s boyfriend and blamed himself for her condition. He felt that the way he broke up with her was the reason why she suffered alone.
Later in Dear Hyeri episode 9, Jung Hyun-oh checked Media N Seoul's parking lot and learned that Hyeri (Joo Eun-ho) started working there 3 or 4 years ago, around the time of their break up. He returned home and broke down into tears, believing that he must be the reason why Joo Eun-ho developed dissociative identity disorder.
By the end of Dear Hyeri episode 9, Jung Hyun-oh got a call from the police station that they had found someone. He rushed to the police station near the forest where Joo Hye-ri went missing. The police informed him that they had found Hyeri, who went missing 10 years ago, but when Jung Hyun-oh checked, it was Joo Eun-ho.
In episode 10 of Dear Hyeri, Jung Hyun-oh brought Joo Eun-ho home and perceived that she had turned into Hyeri. He tried to talk to her, but she didn't reply. Jung Hyun-oh found Joo Eun-ho’s phone and saw Kang Ju-yeon calling. He picked up the call and informed him she was healthy and safe.
Kang Ju-yeon and Moon Ji-on rushed to Joo Eun-ho’s house to see if she was safe. That was when Moon Ji-on also learned about Joo Eun-ho’s mental illness. Moon Ji-on and Kang Ju-yeon argued about who would be the guardian of Joo Eun-ho as she did not have any family members. By the end of the argument, Jung Hyun-oh said he would be the guardian.
The next day, Jung Hyun-oh tried to take Hyeri (Joo Eun-ho) to the hospital, but they bumped into Kang Ju-yeon, who was waiting outside her house. Jung Hyun-oh tried to stop Kang Ju-yeon, but he expressed his feelings that it did not matter if she was Joo Eun-ho or Hyeri.
All he wanted was for her to be fine and healthy. Kang Ju-yeon said he just wanted to be by her side and liked her because she pursued him for who he was. Hyeri ran towards Kang Ju-yeon and hugged him. She asked Jung Hyun-oh to leave as she wanted to talk to Kang Ju-yeon.
When Kang Ju-yeon asked who she was, Hyeri revealed that she was indeed Joo Eun-ho and explained that she lived in the woods where her sister was lost. This was because she wanted to see why Hyeri was so happy and she was not, she tried to become Hyeri but failed. She thanked Kang Ju-yeon for liking her when she needed love the most, but this was the end of their relationship.
Later, in Dear Hyeri episode 10, Moon Ji-on informed Jung Hyun-oh that he also visited the police station as he learned from one of his colleagues that someone like Joo Eun-ho was in that area. Moon Ji-on told him that he had gone to the forest and checked the cabin she lived in. He explained to him that because Joo Eun-ho must have hated herself so much, she left for the woods.
Moon Ji-on added that she decided to throw away everything she had to become Hyeri, even herself, except Jung Hyun-oh. Moon Ji-on gave him the piece of paper Jung Hyun-oh had given to Joo Eun-ho, which he found in the cabin. The paper had the sketch of Jung Hyun-oh's mother's necklace, which Joo Eun-ho was supposed to buy for him.
Moon Ji-on said that he believed Jung Hyun-oh never deserved Joo Eun-ho and that someday, if he waited, he would have a chance to be with Joo Eun-ho. However, Moon Ji-on told him that even though Jung Hyun-oh didn't deserve her, he was the only one for Joo Eun-ho.
By the end of Dear Hyeri episode 10, Joo Eun-ho and Jung Hyun-oh reunited near the same stairs where they broke up. They hugged each other and shared a kiss.
