DNA Lover starring Jung In-sun, Super Junior's Choi Si-won, Lee Tae-hwan, and Jung Yoo-jin premiered its first episode at 9:10 pm (KST) on TV Chosun on August 17, 2024. DNA Lover is a romantic comedy about a genetic researcher who after ending her relationship with a series of cheater boyfriends embarks to find a genetically compatible partner.
Jung In-sun plays the role of Han So-jin a researcher at the Beneficial Gene Center who is determined to find the perfect 'genetic match' she calls DNA Lover.
Choi Si-won as Shim Yeon-woo a highly accomplished obstetrician and gynaecologist at Shim Hospital. He is the son of the president of the hospital. While Lee Tae-hwan portrays So-jin and Shim Yeon-woo's friend Seo Kang-hoon, a firefighter.

The first episode of the drama opens with Han So-jin having a dream about giving a speech about her research on DNA Lover. She says the structure of DNA has the blueprint of who someone is going to fall in love with, and it is called DNA Lover.

A man with flowers in his hand walks into the auditorium in between her speech. After ending her speech when a reporter asks her if she has met her DNA lover she says yes and walks towards this man.
Waking up by the sound of her printer, she runs out quickly to meet her boyfriend as she is running late. She tells him they are meant to be as their DNA matches perfectly. However, her boyfriend breaks up with her saying she is obsessed with DNA.
On the other hand, Shim Yeon-woo gets a call from his girlfriend who asks him to pick her up from the club. Outside the club, as he waits for his girlfriend, he witnesses Han So-jin's fight about the break up with her now ex-boyfriend and finds it amusing.
After the fight as So-jin cries out loud, Shim Yeah-woo notices a cycle coming towards her at speed. Quickly he turns on his car's blinkes alerting her. However, the cycle passes by missing her by an inch, startling her in the process. The incident only makes her cry out more. Shim Yeah-woo drives by her.
The next morning as Shim Yeon-woo goes to the hospital to work, his girlfriend calls him and complains about him not waiting for her. Yeah-woo reminds her about telling her that he is going to wait for thirty seconds, which he has done and only left after that. This only fuels her complaints leading him to break up with her on that Video call.
At her lab, Han So-jin's colleagues try to cheer her up. However, they discover a gene in So-jin's boyfriend's DNA. It seems to affect the dopamine hormone level, making people with it seek stimulation, thrill, and pleasure. This makes her and her colleagues believe that the boyfriend has cheated on her too, even though he says otherwise.
In the next scene, Seo Kang-hoon rescues a woman who has passed out in the toilet, from a gas leak accident. Recognizing that she has attempted suicide before, he hands her a phone number and asks her to call.
While walking out of the building Kang-hoon receives a message from So-jin asking him to get a drink with her. Understanding she has broken up again, he calls her and asks her to focus on surviving instead of dating and refuses to drink with her.
Han So-jn goes to a bar and drinks with her friend So-ri in Kang-hoon's father's restaurant. There she meets Shim Yeon-woo's now ex-girlfriend and cries over broken hearts together. Drunk they decide to get revenge on Yeon-woo.
However, after reaching his house, So-jin passes out. She wakes up to find him saying that he does not believe in fate and refuses to patch up with his ex. She attacks him with the hair gain spray Super Teol, she made for her ex-boyfriend.
It made him step back and caused him to bump into his almost-finished big puzzle board. However, a drop of the spray ends up falling on his left cheek. So-ri drags her out of there and takes her home.
Kang-hoon goes to Yeon-woo's house to find the living room in a mess. Kang-hoon asks Yeon-woo about it. However, he only asks him to get his ex a taxi. After he puts her in the taxi Yeon-woo comes to talk to him. Kang-hoon asks him why he dates so many women but does not fall in love with just one.
To this Yeon-woo says that he wants to but has not found that one woman. Kang-hoon calls Yeon-woo someone who only cares about themselves, which Kang-hoon hates and goes away from there.
The next morning So-jin wakes up getting a call from Kang-hoon, who asks her about last night but she does not remember any of it. While talking to her colleague she remembers spraying someone with the hair gain spray and both of them panicked about it. Meanwhile, Kang-hoon asks her to grab dinner together.
While out for dinner, So-jin finds her ex-boyfriend with her colleague Hee-yeon. She runs at them to question them and realizes he has been cheating on her. Her ex-boyfriend told her that he and all of her exes cheated on her because of her.
She tells him he has genes that can lead him to baldness, diabetes, and prostate cancer. Hearing this he tries to attack her but Kang-hoon holds his hand and slaps it away.
They go to Kang-hoon's father's restaurant. Asking her to eat instead of drinking, Kang-hoon asks her to bring any man she has an interest in, to the restaurant and he will judge them for her.
Her parent's unhappy relationship has made her understand that she must meet the perfect match to live well. The perfect partner that has engraved in her DNA. She calls him her DNA lover, whose face she does not know, and wonders if she ever will meet again.
Meanwhile, the hair gain spray is making his facial hair grow faster on Yeon-woo's left cheek. Furious he finds a way to reach the genetic lab. Hearing that someone from Shim General Hospital wants to meet her team, Han So-jin panics remembering somewhat about the drunken night.
She calls So ri who tells her about the night, making her panicky even more. Her team gathers in the same auditorium she has seen in the dream. Wearing the same outfit as in her dream and carrying the same flower, Yeon-woo walks into the auditorium.
With just one glance he recognizes her and smiles mischievously, and looking at him she remembers everything from that night.
DNA Lover will be released every Saturday and Sunday, at 9:10 pm (KST) on TV Chosun and also on the streaming platform Viki.
