DNA Lover episode 15 recap: A fiery showdown, tragic confessions, and heartbreaking goodbyes

Episode 15 of DNA Lover begins with a flashback where Father Andrea's twin (Lee Cheol-woo), Yi-myung, watches from afar as Yeon-woo and his family happily attend a hospital event. Yeon-woo’s father makes a wish to live happily with his family, a scene that triggers Yi-myung’s desire to destroy that happiness.

The scene shifts to Yi-myung (Lee Cheol-woo) kidnapping Han So-jin and taking her to his mother’s greenhouse. He messages Sim Yeon-woo, challenging him to rescue her from the place they first met. So-jin regains consciousness, bound and terrified, and realizes the man in front of her is not Father Andrea, but his twin.

Yeon-woo recalls his childhood encounter with his father’s mistress' son, Yi-myung, and races to the greenhouse. On the way, his vision blurs, but he pushes through and arrives quickly.

Meanwhile, Kang-hoon is about to beat a confession out of Father Andrea, but A-ri intervenes. Andrea reveals the truth about his twin, Yi-myung, urging Kang-hoon to go to recover the Bible Yi-myung stole.

Upon returning to the greenhouse Kang-hoon finds a map marked with the locations of arson cases. He learns that Yi-myung witnessed their mother die in a fire at their childhood home. He rushes to the house and alerts Andrea and A-ri to call the police.

At his childhood home's greenhouse, Yi-myung waters the grass plants. Yeon-woo arrives soon and attempts to save her but is knocked out by Yi-myung. Upon waking, Yeon-woo confronts Yi-myung, who blames him for the loss of his mother.

He recounts how Yeon-woo’s revelation about his mother’s affair led him to accuse his own mother of being involved with a married man. This argument causing a fatal confrontation resulted in the fire that killed her.

Shocked, Yeon-woo listens as Yi-myung confesses to killing his father, his father’s mistress, and her child. Yi-myung explains that he believes his mother was purified by the fire, like an angel. Yeon-woo responds, telling Yi-myung that his mother tried to save his father out of love, while Yi-myung did nothing as his mother died in the fire. This enrages Yi-myung, who begins beating Yeon-woo while So-jin helplessly screams for mercy.

A-ri (Lee Soo-bin) and Andrea rush to the greenhouse with the police, Andrea blames himself for not doing more to prevent the tragedy, but A-ri consoles him.

After beating Yeon-woo, Yi-myung leaves for a moment. Yeon-woo tells So-jin that he has come because she is in danger, just like how she had gone to the beach to find him that day. Even though he isn't her DNA lover and there’s no telepathy, he still knew he had to come.

So-jin admits she wanted to find her DNA lover to avoid heartbreak and make life simpler. But with Yeon-woo, her beliefs about DNA shaping destiny and happiness have crumbled.

Yeon-woo tells her he actually does believe in destiny. He wonders if, by lying and pretending to be her DNA lover, he put her in danger. He promises to make everything right.

Mi-eun visits Yeon-woo's mother and notices her regaining consciousness. She tries calling Yeon-woo but gets no answer.

Yi-myung returns with fuel. Yeon-woo pleads for So-jin’s release, saying she has nothing to do with their feud. Yi-myung accuses him of lying, just like Yeon-woo's father, President Sim, who never acknowledged him.

So-jin steps in and tells Yi-myung that he already has a family—his brother, Andrea, who became a priest to absolve his sins. Despite sharing the same DNA, she says, he and Andrea are very different. She tries to comfort him, saying his mother’s death wasn’t his fault, and urges him to let go of the past and live with his family.

Yi-myung coldly replies that it’s too late and goes out. As he steps outside, the plants around So-jin suddenly burst into flames, quickly spreading through the greenhouse.

Yeon-woo frees himself and cuts So-jin loose. As they try to escape, the greenhouse collapses around them in flames. Yeon-woo shields So-jin from falling debris, narrowly saving her.

Kang-hoon arrives and sees Yi-myung watching the fire from outside. He rushes in to save So-jin and Yeon-woo. The police, Andrea, and A-ri follow. Yi-myung runs into the burning greenhouse, ignoring Andrea’s desperate pleas.

He attacks Kang-hoon in a scuffle, but Kang-hoon manages to get So-jin and Yeon-woo out. Despite Kang-hoon's efforts to save him, Yi-myung, hallucinating with visions of his mother, walks into the fire and dies.

Yeon-woo and So-jin are rushed to the hospital. So-jin regains consciousness, but Yeon-woo’s condition is critical. His lungs are filled with carbon dioxide, and his right hand is severely burned. So-jin breaks down upon hearing the news. Kang-hoon, who was stabbed by Yi-myung, hides his injury.

The next morning, Yeon-woo regains consciousness and asks Kang-hoon about So-jin, who rushes to bring her. Meanwhile, So-jin’s mother (Seo Ji-young), sister, A-ri, and Kang-hoon’s father visit her. Kang-hoon’s father intentionally reveals her kidnapping, alarming her family which surprises So-jin.

So-jin visits Yeon-woo, apologizing for causing his injury. Yeon-woo assures her that he’s the one who should apologize. When So-jin asks if he’s moving to the U.S. because of her, he explains he’s going to start a new life for his mother’s sake. Before they can continue their conversation, Mi-eun and Jung Tam enter the room, and So-jin leaves.

The next day before Yeon-woo is discharged, the doctor informs him and Mi-eun that his hand injury could lead to permanent stiffness, potentially ending his career as a surgeon.

Andrea, meanwhile, retrieves the Bible Yi-myung stole. Inside, he finds a note from Yi-myung about his final meeting with President Sim, when Sim cruelly rejected him, solidifying Yi-myung’s belief that he was unwanted.

Later, Yeon-woo visits his mother. She confesses that despite their mutual resentment, she rushed to save his father in the fire. His father too tried to save her at his last moment. This reminds Yeon-woo of how he and So-jin tried to save each other. His mother apologizes for not being a better parent, but Yeon-woo forgives her, asking her to cook for him once she recovers.

Mi-eun visits and informs So-jin that Yeon-woo is leaving that night and that he had risked his surgical career to save her. Shocked, So-jin rushes to the airport.

As Yeon-woo waits for his flight, he looks at the door, hoping to see her. His former patient, who attempted suicide in the previous episode, arrives with her child to say goodbye. Time runs out, and Yeon-woo boards the flight.

In the final scene of episode 15 of DNA Lover, So-jin arrives at the airport but finds Yeon-woo already gone. Realizing she’s too late, she breaks down in tears.

DNA Lover will release its episode 16 on October 6 at 9:10 pm (KST) on TV Chosun. It can also be watched on the streaming platform Viki.
