The fourth episode of the romantic comedy series DNA Lover, starring Jung In-sun, Choi Si-won, Lee Tae-hwan, and Jung Yoo-jin, premiered on TV Chosun at 9:10 pm (KST) on August 18, 2024. The series follows the journey of a genetic researcher who embarks on a quest to find a genetically compatible partner after unsuccessful relationships with unfaithful partners.
Jung In-sun plays the role of Han So-jin, a researcher at the Beneficial Gene Center who is determined to find the perfect 'genetic match' she calls DNA Lover.
Choi Si-won as Shim Yeon-woo, a highly accomplished obstetrician and gynaecologist at Shim Hospital. He is the son of the hospital president and Lee Tae-hwan portrays So-jin's friend Seo Kang-hoon, a firefighter. Additionally, Jung Yoo-jin is also in the drama DNA Lover, she plays Jang Mi-eun, a polyamorous romance columnist and also one of Yeon-woo's ex-girlfriends.

In the first scene of this episode, So-jin and her colleague A-ri go to church. So-jin informs about the cheater gene in Yeon-woo's DNA and asks god if there is anyone who would be able to heal and comfort her. A-ri tells her that it's highly likely that So-jin's DNA Lover has the cheater gene. This So-jin refuses to believe and is in shock.
The pastor from the church goes to Yeon-woo's hospital to pray with and for the patients. A nurse introduces him to Yeon-woo. Meanwhile, someone leaves marsh marigolds for Yeon-woo, without a name. However, he wonders about So-jin, who has not contacted him yet.
So-jin's boss sends her to Sim General Hospital for a project and she takes A-ri with her. At the auditorium where Yeon-woo is briefing his team about the project, So-jin notices women swooning over Yeon-woo. While, at the time of So-jin's briefing Yeon-woo wonders why she has not contacted him, nor mentioned about the test even after going there.
So-jin notices the women of the team do not like her, making A-ri wonder how much Yeon-woo has flirted with them. They quickly run away seeing Yeon-woo coming.
Meanwhile, Kang-hoon's colleague Song Mi visits Yeon-woo's colleague Dr. Yeo Jung-tam. They knew each other from the gym. She asks for female hormone shots as she has missed her periods for two and a half months and also always felt like less of a woman. However, Jung-tam calls her the coolest woman.
Mi-eun meanwhile thinks about Kang-hoon. She calls Yeon-woo to talk about the fire incident and asks him out to celebrate her saving from the fire. They go to Kang-hoon's father's restaurant. Mi-eun recognizes Kang-hoon as her Savior instantly.
Yeon-woo introduces them. Kang-hoon questions if she has gotten her fire alarm fixed and tells her not to burn incent closing windows. She notices the nail marks on his hand from that day when she held his hand while running from the smoke. Seeing her interest in Kang-hoon, Yeon-woo tells her that he will not fall for her. He on the other hand thinks about So-jin.
So-jin watches Yeon-woo's Interview talking about pure love and wonders how someone like him can have cheater genes. She also wonders if those genes have gone dormant after witnessing so many births as a gynecologist.
The next morning Yeon-woo's father, the Chairman of the hospital visits him and asks to have lunch which Yeon-woo refuses. Yeon-woo's mother, on the other hand, seeing pictures of her husband with a younger woman goes to So-jin's center to get anti-ageing food therapy even though she is underweight. She talks to So-jin about how her husband started cheating when she was pregnant.
Going back home she found out that her ex, who once cheated on her, cheating on his current girlfriend. She visualizes Yeon-woo doing the same with her. So, she decides to give up on him. She sends the DNA result to Yeon-woo and suggests he go to a temple and meditate and not eat eels, chives and oysters.
Reading the message Yeon-woo asks her to meet him. Upon meeting him So-jin explains that she will not date someone with cheater genes. She will trust DNA more than feelings because DNA doesn't change. Yeon-woo says he feels wronged as without knowing anything about him So-jin has labeled him a cheater.
She says as it is in his genes, he is going to cheat even if he has not yet. It is a matter of time. So she does not want to get involved with him. He asks her what she knows about him other than his DNA and tells her that if she is someone who judges people this easily, he is not interested either and leaves.
Yeon-woo goes to a bar, where he meets Mi-eun. He asks her if she thinks he is a casanova. She tells him that he knows when a woman is pretty. Hearing this, he wonders why all of his relationships end so badly. So-jin meets Kang-hoon and shares not feeling well and shares her mind with him.
Going home she gathers all of Yeon-woo's things including his DNA results. She is about to burn them when she sees he has an optimistic gene, which can heal her dying gene. However, she remembers that everything has been over between them.
The next evening, restless Yeon-woo goes to Kang-hoon's father's restaurant to have Udon and finds So-jin there. But he keeps his distance from her. So-jin decides to apologize to him but before she can, he leaves.
The next morning Yeon-woo's mother goes to visit him and talks about his father's affair. She gives him pictures of his father's mistress and Yeon-woo recognizes her as his patient who asked for a paternal DNA test saying her father-in-law became blind. He asks her to divorce him. But she tells him that his father's father, and grandfather - all have had affairs, it's in their gene but after the relationships ended they come back to the mother of their child. So she will wait too.
Yeon-woo's father's mistress comes to get a DNA test result which So-jin explains to her. Knowing that her child has the probability of being blind, she asks why her child has the gene when Yeon-woo does not. She calls him her family and tells him that his father has proposed to her.
Yeon-woo asks if his father knows about her visit to him and she replies with yes. He gives her advice that his father's feelings change quickly and that she would not find him when she is in need. To this, the woman calls him scared because she and her child can take his house and the hospital.
Witnessing this, So-jin realises what she has said to him about his DNA could have felt like telling he will be like his father. She runs to give him an umbrella and asks him to get a drink. When he refuses to do that she apologises for what she has said that day. He says that what she has seen today has nothing to do with her and asks not to talk about it or DNA as he does not believe in it. He tells her that all she talks about are DNAs and fails in relationships.
On her way back home, So-jin feels like someone is following her. She calls Kang-hoon and tells him about it. But before he can come Yeon-woo reaches her and the stalker escapes. However, Kang-hoon soon catches him and finds out the stalker is So-jin's ex. As because of So-jin his girlfriend found out about him cheating he came to talk to her.
On the other hand, Yeon-woo helps So-jin stand properly and she thanks him. She also tells him that he has a healer gene, that makes people around him smile and heal. Which is why she wants to know about him more and do more tests.
Yeon-woo realizes that she keeps calling attraction a test. The episode ends with him leaning down for a kiss, saying this is how a test should be conducted.
