The third episode of the new MBC drama Doubt was released on October 18, 2024. Doubt features Han Seok-kyu, Han Ye-ri, Chae Won-bin, and Oh Yeon-soo in the leading roles. The first season of the show has a total of ten episodes.

The latest episode of Doubt saw Tae-su suspect Ha-bin of being involved in the murder cases as she had a history with her younger brother. The episode featured Tae-su trying to believe what his daughter was saying before discovering another vital connection that linked the two cases and is still suspicious of Ha-bin.

After having established the connection, the police seem to believe that they are looking for a serial killer.

Doubt episode 3 recap: Jang Tae-su confirms Jang Ha-bin's alibis

Episode 3 of Doubt season 1 began with Tae-su asking his daughter if she had met Song Min-a before the latter went missing. However, before she could answer, the police rang Tae-su's doorbell.

They were at the residence to look for Jang Ha-bin since she seemed to be in the area close to the crime scene in Mount Daehwa. However, at the house, they discover that Jang Ha-bin was Tae-su’s daughter.

The police had a lot of questions for Jang Ha-bin and she answered all their questions along with divulging some secrets that her father was unaware of. She also told them that she had never visited Mount Daehwa.

The episode of Doubt also saw Jang Ha-bin tell the police officers that she had a conflict with Song Min-a. They asked her about her whereabouts on the 11th, and she confessed that she had been with her boyfriend.

While the police didn't doubt Jang Ha-bin because of her cool demeanor and answers, Tae-su wasn't so sure and still had doubts about his daughter. He continued questioning her and asked her if she had me Song Min-a on the 11th and if she had truly stolen her phone. This was because, in the previous episode of Doubt season 1, Tae-su had discovered an extra phone in Jang Ha-bin's baggage. However, Jang Ha-bin refuted all of his charges and asked Tae-su to trust her.

Subsequently, Tae-su then looked at Ha-bin's keychain, which she had burned in the previous episode. However, Ha-bin was unaware that Tae-su had discreetly switched her keychain to utilize it as evidence. Therefore, the one she burned was only a similar-looking keychain.

The next day, both police officers and Tae-su visited the school to question Ha-bin's boyfriend, Lee Su-hyeon. He confirmed that on the eleventh, Ha-bin was with him in a hotel room. He stated that they had spent the entire night together in the same room, and that he didn't recognize Song Min-a.

Tae-su also met one of Ha-bin's former educators. The teacher applauded Ha-bin for using the reward prize she won at school to provide financial assistance to Lee Su-hyeon, who did not come from a wealthy family.

The next scene shows police officers and Tae-su heading to the hotel mentioned in Ha-bin's statement. They both reviewed the CCTV footage to confirm her claims. They discovered nothing unusual in the clip. So far, Jang Ha-bin came up clean, with her alibis validated by police officials.

Tae-su remained skeptical of his daughter because she was the last person to see Song Min-a, as Park Ji-yeon said in the last episode of Doubt. The police officers and Tae-su's assistant were furious with him because he withheld the facts about Jang Ha-bin's part in the murder and violated investigative protocol.

In the next scene, some police officials discussed Park Ji-hyeon's interrogation, but another officer said that she was discharged on Tae-su's orders. They were outraged because her phone number was no longer reachable.

Meanwhile, police officials were keeping an eye on the residence from which the suspect, Choi Yeong-min, was apprehended in the previous episode of Doubt. Due to a lack of evidence, the man was released, and had since gone missing, with the police looking for him.

In the next scene, Jang Ha-bin attempted to open a locker but continuously entered the wrong pin. After that, she returned home and approached her father's car, where the dashcam was blinking.

She then entered the house and ate dinner with Tae-su, who promised that he would no longer doubt her. She then made an odd request for them to move, stating that she was ready to relocate.

The next day, authorities arrested other members of the runaway group, in which Song Min-a was involved. Seven members of the gang made similar statements, leading the officers to conclude that the members were fabricating a tale to hide the truth.

They targeted the gang's weakest member and coaxed her into telling the truth. She revealed that Choi Yeong-min instructed them to lie to the police about Song Min-a. She also said that Yeong-min was enraged and wanted to kill Song Min-a when she left their group.

In the following scene, Jang Ha-bin attempted to open the locker once more, and this time she was successful. She found a bag in the locker and took it with her.

Choi Yeong-min, on the other hand, was hiding in the landlady's house, which was only one story above his. It appeared that the landlady, who seemed innocent in the second episode, was engaged in the crime in some way.

The police were analyzing the case and had uncovered no alibi for Choi Yeong-min thus far. Tae-su claimed that since one person could not commit such a crime alone, he must have had an accomplice.

Later in the episode, Tae-su abandoned the investigation because his daughter was implicated, which violated investigating norms. He left the workplace and talked with someone about selling his house. It appeared that he had grown to trust his daughter and was willing to relocate as she desired.

However, he soon received another call from the man in whose car he had left a letter asking for dashcam footage. The car was parked in front of the hotel where Ha-bin stayed. Tae-su met the man, and they watched the clip together, as Tae-su realized that Ha-bin was lying and hadn't been in the room the entire time. In the video, she was racing out of the hotel and heading elsewhere.

Tae-su went to see Lee Su-hyeon and asked him about the truth. He said she hadn't told him where she was heading from the hotel. He also stated that he was not her boyfriend and had just started school. This surprised Tae-su, as the teacher had previously stated that Ha-bin and Su-hyeon knew each other from previous years of school.

Following this, Tae-su went to meet the teacher. The latter clarified that he was referring to Ha-bin's best friend, Lee Su-yeon, who was female. The teacher showed their photograph to Tae-su. The teacher also indicated that Su-hyeon had dropped out of school and fled her home.

Jang Tae-su obtained Su-hyeon's address and went to his residence. He met her father. Tae-su gave his father a picture of Ha-bin, who recognized her right away. He stated that Ha-bin was also a runaway girl and that Su-hyeon had a good bond with her.

Lee Su-hyeon, Ha-bin's fake boyfriend, met her and told her everything about her father's interrogation. Tae-su and Ha-bin met at home, where he assured her that he would catch the genuine culprit and would not leave until he did.

In the meantime, Choi Yeong-min approached Park Ji-yeon and inquired about money. To get the money, he went to Song Min-a's locker and attempted to open it, before leaving the scene soon after.

In the following scene, Ha-bin was seen glancing at a bag of money and sending a picture to Yeong-min's phone.

Tae-su dropped Ha-bin to the library in the next scene. After he left her, she hurried to Seopyeon Station. Meanwhile, the police apprehended Choi Yeong-min at the same station.

Tae-su was suspended toward the end of Doubt's third episode on bribery charges. The bribe money was discovered in his car trunk, and his dashcam film was destroyed. Tae-su questioned Ha-bin's involvement once more, given her access to his car.

Choi Yeong-min was once again released, while Tae-su was the subject of an investigation by officials. Finally, cops and Tae-su received a call from a forensics specialist. They noticed that the fiber from Ha-bin's keychain, which Tae-su presented to the expert, was identical to the thread discovered at the crime scene.

After identifying this keychain as the link between the two crimes, the police officer assumed that a serial killer was responsible for the murders. This is where the Doubt episode ended.

The new episodes of Doubt will release Friday and Saturday. Viewers can also stream the show on Netflix.
