The fourth episode of the ongoing MBC psychological thriller drama Doubt was released on October 19, 2024. Doubt features Han Seok-kyu, Han Ye-ri, Oh Yeon-soo, and Chae Won-bin in the main roles. The first season of the show has a total of 10 episodes.
The previous episode of Doubt showed how police found a connection between the two cases (one of an unknown skeleton and the other of Song Min-a). Tae-su still continued to doubt his daughter as the investigation progressed.
In the latest Doubt episode, the storyline took an unexpected twist when Jang Ha-bin discovered a terrible truth about her mother, and how she was linked to her best friend Lee Su-hyeon’s murder. Implying that her mother could possibly be behind it.

Doubt episode 4 recap: Jang Tae-su and his team looked into Lee Su-hyeon's murder
Episode 3 of Doubt began with a portrayal of Song Min-a and Choi Yeong-min’s connection. The former worked under Yeong-min. Song Min-a was assigned the job of delivering bags of money to him. Min-a used to visit the same location of forest in Mount Daehwa to pick up the bag for Yeong-min. She had no clue who was sending this money to Yeong-min.
One day she didn’t receive the bag at the location. And when Min-a told Yeong-min about this, he got angry as he doubted her. Min-a was badly beaten by him as he charged her with stealing his money. This is when Min-a decided to leave the runaway group. She stole money from Yeong-min’s secret place and kept it in her locker.
While Min-a was doing this, Jang Ha-bin was shown following her and clicking her pictures secretly. She even knew about Song Min-a’s locker.
Further, it was also shown that the fight and police drama involving Ha-bin, Park Ji-hyeon, and Song Min-a was intentionally done by Ha-bin. She purposely followed Song Min-a in the metro, went to a motel with her, requested to join her runaway gang, and then fought with her when she refused to share her number.
In that fight, Song Min-a lost her phone, as it was taken away by Ha-bin. She installed a tracker on her phone to track her locations. Later, she asked Song Min-a to meet her if she wanted her phone back.
Ha-bin was also shown standing at the same spot where the skeleton was discovered in the first episode of Doubt. It seemed like Ha-bin had something against Song Min-a and that she knew her from before.
In the present day, the story continues where it was left off in the previous episode of Doubt. Ha-bin’s keychain, which Tae-su submitted as a piece of evidence, had the skeleton’s DNA on it. Therefore, the evidence was now related to two cases, both Song Min-a and the unknown skeleton found on Mount Daehwa.
Tae-su concealed the truth about the keychain when he was asked where he found it. He said that he received it in a parcel, and it belonged to Lee Su-hyeon.
The police soon discovered about Lee Su-hyeon, who dropped out of school a year ago. They checked her address and matched her father’s DNA with the skeleton, which matched. The police finally found the skeleton’s identity, who was Lee Su-hyeon.
Meanwhile, Jang Ha-bin, who took money from Song Min-a’s locker, asked Choi Yeong-min to meet her, as the money originally belonged to him. But she backed out after she noticed police were following him.
Subsequently, Choi Yeong-min was seen sitting with his runaway gang members. He asked about who informed the police that he wasn’t at home on the day Song Min-a went missing. He found out that Eun-jin, his gang member, informed the police. Therefore, she was badly beaten by Yeong-min and locked in a room.
After Tae-su found that it was Lee Su-hyeon’s skeleton, he again doubted his daughter. He reached home and insisted his daughter turn herself in before the police came to look for her. As this was the only way to reduce Ha-bin’s charges, Tae-su added.
Ha-bin refused and asked Tae-su how he was sure she was the culprit. Tae-su was obsessively behind his daughter. Instead, Ha-bin complained to the police about domestic mental abuse. Soon police arrived and took Ha-bin away with them. Tae-su tried to talk to her but she questioned why he never discussed anything and jumped to conclusions. Ha-bin left with police.
The police team, on the other hand, checked Lee Su-hyeon’s call records and found another common link between the two cases. Both Lee Su-hyeon and Song Min-a belonged to the same runaway group. Therefore, police once again took Choi Yeong-min and his gang members for questioning.
Tae-su, who reached Yeong-min’s location at the same time, noticed that one member of the gang, Eun-jin, was missing. He entered Yeong-min’s house and spoke to his landlady, Kim Sung-hee, who lived on the first floor. She refused to recognize Lee Su-hyeon and concealed her connection with Yeong-min.
While talking to her, Tae-su saw some bruises around her neck. After Tae-su left, Sung-hee recalled the scene when Lee Su-hyeon was locked up in the basement. It seemed that she knew about Lee Su-hyeon.
Ha-bin again tried to connect with Yeong-min, but he wasn’t reachable. While Ha-bin was in child welfare custody, someone else was also shown keeping an eye on her.
The next day, Tae-su, who had been suspended from investigating the case in the previous episode of Doubt, was cleared of bribery charges by his department. Tae-su continued to contemplate who had framed him for bribery allegations.
In the subsequent scene, Tae-su privately confronted Yeong-min and asked him if he killed Lee Su-hyeon, but he refused. He instead threatened Tae-su by stating that he would reveal his daughter as the murderer of Song Min-a.
Later during interrogation, Yeong-min admitted that Su-hyeon was a member of his runaway group, but she left the group long back. Further, Choi Yeong-min mistakenly revealed his involvement in Lee Su-hyeon’s murder.
However, due to a lack of evidence, Yeong-min was once again released. He then met Kim Sung-hee, who was terrified by the police investigation. She seemed involved in Lee Su-hyeon’s case. Yeong-min assured Sung-hee that he would get his money back from Ha-bin and then they would leave the place.
Meanwhile, police questioned Lee Su-hyeon’s educator, Park Joon-tae. During questioning, Joon-tae concealed the truth about Ha-bin and Su-hyeon’s friendship. He returned to school and gave a suspicious gaze to Ha-bin.
Meanwhile, Officer Gu and Eo-jin inspected Lee Su-hyeon’s residence and discovered a comparable squishy keychain to that of Jang Ha-bin. A photograph of Su-hyeon with a girl (presumably Ha-bin) was discovered, although her face had been distorted in the image.
Suddenly, the police team found that Yeong-min attempted suicide due to the mental pressure amid the police investigation. He was taken to the hospital, and he soon ran away from there.
The police team was still looking into Lee Su-hyeon’s case. At one eatery, they found that a man had been looking for Lee Su-hyeon for months. Following this, police visited Joon-tae’s house to ask if he knew something about that man. But Joon-tae was not at home as he went to meet Kim Sung-hee. Here, some connection is established between Sung-hee and Joon-tae.
Tae-su in the police station saw the photo found at Lee Su-hyeon’s house. The photo was dated from the date before Su-hyeon joined the runaway gang.
Tae-su called his colleague and requested that he look into the most frequently contacted numbers of Ha-bin. After some time, his colleague informed Tae-su that there were two numbers, both of which were registered under the name of Yoon Ji-su (Tae-su’s wife).
He forwarded both the numbers to Tae-su. While one number was saved on his phone under Ji-su’s name, the other was an unknown number. He called the unknown number and found a phone ringing in Ha-bin’s room.
He broke into her drawer and found the phone with the same photo on the wallpaper, which he saw in the station (Lee Su-hyeon’s photo with a girl). The other girl with Su-hyeon was Ha-bin, and it was probably Su-hyeon’s phone.
Toward the end of Doubt's fourth episode, Ha-bin instructed Yeong-min to meet at the same location where Song Min-a had come to pick up money-filled bags for Yeong-min. He was curious as to how Ha-bin knew that spot.
When Ha-bin arrived, Yeong-min inquired if she was trying to seek revenge on him for Lee Su-hyeon's murder. Ha-bin was taken aback by this because she had been unaware of her friend Lee Su-hyeon's death until now.
Yeong-min noticed parallels between Ha-bin and her mother's facial features. Eventually, Ha-bin questioned him about why he threatened her mother, Yoon Ji-su when she was alive.
Yeong-min showed Ha-bin a video after she forced him to. In the video, her mother was digging a hole in the dirt, while Lee Su-hyeon's body lay out next to her. It seemingly appeared that Ji-su murdered Ha-bin's friend. Ha-bin saw that video, and episode 4 of Doubt came to an end.
