Doubt episode 7 recap: Joon-tae turns himself in for Yeong-min’s murder

The seventh episode of Doubt starts with Jang Tae-su, who finds his daughter Ha-bin standing near Choi Yeong-min’s dead body with her hands covered in blood. Tae-su was scared as the police also arrived at Yeong-min’s hideout place, but somehow he managed to escape with his daughter.

He took Ha-bin and one of the weapons to his house. Although Ha-bin was going to confront the police, Tae-su forcefully stopped her. After reaching home, Ha-bin told Tae-su that she found out the truth behind Ji-su’s suicide. Ji-su killed herself out of guilt as she buried Su-hyeon’s body, thinking that her daughter Ha-bin was the killer.

Ha-bin changed her clothes, and Tae-su kept her blood-covered clothes in a drawer with a small gift box. He also asked her if she saw the real culprit who killed Yeong-min, but Ha-bin denied.

Tae-su went back to the crime scene and closely observed the photos of Yeong-min’s body. He concluded that if two weapons were used on him, then there must be two different culprits. Around the crime scene, Tae-su also discovered a pendant necklace. Soon, Eo-jin saw the neckchain in his hand and collected it as evidence. She concluded that one of the culprits could be a woman.

In the meantime, Joon-tae's father informed him that Ha-bin had killed Yeong-min. They also argued over Sung-hee. His father was against him dating a single mother. Though Joon-tae tried to convince him about Sung-hee, he refused to accept her.

Ha-bin, on the other side, called Song Min-a’s youth shelter to enquire about her family. The person from the shelter informed her that her parents passed away. Ha-bin understood that the man who was pretending to be Min-a’s father was a liar.

They talked about Song Min-a and Joon-tae knowing one another at the police station, as Sung-hee's son revealed in the previous Doubt episode. They also suspected Sung-hee to be the culprit, as they found a woman’s necklace at the crime scene.

Another police officer said that Joon-tae probably met Song Min-a on the day she died, as they knew each other. Tae-su immediately left and met Joon-tae.

When Tae-su questioned Joon-tae about his last meeting with Song Min-a. He said he couldn’t remember. He countered, saying that Ha-bin was also at Yeong-min’s murder place. This scared Tae-su, and he left saying that Joon-tae must appear for police questioning without avoiding their calls.

Soon, Eo-jin found out that Tae-su was the last person who spoke to Yeong-min on the phone before he died.

Joon-tae’s father, on the other hand, came to meet Sung-hee. He threatened her to tell him everything about Song Min-a’s death. She recounted the day when Min-a came to her house to pick up her things as she left Yeong-min’s gang. Sung-hee took her ill son to the doctor, while Joon-tae was alone at her house.

When she returned home, she saw Song Min-a lying on her bed, and Joon-tae was sitting next to him. Joon-tae’s father wasn’t ready to accept this story. But he soon left Sung-hee’s place as police arrived.

At the police station, the team seemed upset with Tae-su’s actions in the investigation. Eo-jin disclosed that his actions must be strange because of his daughter’s involvement. Despite the police team confirming Ha-bin's alibis, she appeared to be involved in the case.

Tae-su and Yeong-min probably knew each other even before the investigation, Eo-jin asserted. She even requested other police officers to question Ha-bin.

Ha-bin, on the other hand, took away her blood-stained clothes and burned them without telling her father. She then headed to the police station to seek information about Joon-tae’s father. In the previous episode, Ha-bin filed a pickpocket complaint against Joon-tae’s father. Therefore, she found the original address and his name, Jung Du-cheol, in police records.

Ha-bin went to Jung Du-cheol’s address and looked into his house. She found her phone at his house, which she lost in the forest. As shown in the flashback, Du-cheol followed her with his car and suddenly hit his car on the tree.

Ha-bin somehow escaped him, but she missed her phone there, which was taken away by Du-cheol. In the present, Ha-bin took away childhood photos of Joon-tae along with her.

In the meantime, Joon-tae and Sung-hee met. He told her to end their relationship. He also informed her about his father, Du-cheol. Joon-tae went on to tell her about his meeting with Yeong-min on his murder day.

Police detained Sung-hee as she was returning because they discovered CCTV footage of her close to the murder scene at the time. Joon-tae saw her arrest from a distance.

Joon-tae arrived at the police station while Tae-su was questioning her. He turned himself in. Joon-tae brought the weapon with which he claimed to have killed Yeong-min.

While going through another CCTV footage, Tae-su recognized his daughter sitting behind a man with a helmet. He quickly went home to speak to his daughter. He saw the necklace found at the crime scene on her wife, Ji-su’s, neck in a picture.

Towards the end of Doubt’s seventh episode, Du-cheol receives a call from Sung-hee informing him of Joon-tae’s arrest. He then recalled the day of Yeong-min’s murder. He saw Ha-bin standing next to Yeong-min’s body. Therefore, he believed that his son Joon-tae was innocent.

Tae-su met his daughter and asked her about the motorcycle man. She refused to answer him. Tae-su threatened her with handcuffs, but she wasn’t afraid. Instead, Ha-bin said that she would find and kill all the culprits responsible for her mother’s death.

In the last scene of Doubt’s episode, Tae-su returned to the police station. He unexpectedly received an image from Ha-bin's number that Jung Du-cheol, Joon-tae's father, had sent. In the picture, Ha-bin was standing next to Yeong-min’s dead body. Following the message, he received a call from Du-cheol demanding the release of Joon-tae from custody.
