In the previous episode of Doubt, Joon-tae surrendered to the police as the murderer of Choi Yeong-min. The latest episode features how Joon-tae lies to the police to save Sung-hee. At the end of Doubt episode 8, the police find Ha-bin’s involvement in the murder case.

Doubt episode 8 recap: Police uncover Ha-bin’s connection to Yeong-min’s murder

The eighth episode of Doubt started with Jang Tae-su and Ha-bin. In the previous episode, Tae-su confronted Ha-bin, and it was revealed that his daughter was doing everything to take revenge for her mother’s death.

First, he blamed Ha-bin’s behavior for Ji-su’s death, then he added that it was her own doubts that took her life. Therefore, he requested Ha-bin to stop everything she was doing to take her revenge.

Then Tae-su went to the police station to investigate Joon-tae. He described the entire situation, including when Yeong-min contacted him and threatened to hurt Sung-hee. Joon-tae said he met Yeong-min to protect Sung-hee and killed him with the knife, which he gave the police as evidence.

Joon-tae's statement didn't convince Eo-jin since circumstantial evidence linked two people to Yeong-min's murder. So Eo-jin questioned Joon-tae if he observed anyone else at the crime location. He stated that he saw no one else at the site. Eo-jin was adamant that Joon-tae and Sung-hee weren't engaged in Yeong-min's murder, but Tae-su wanted to prove that Sung-hee was at the crime scene.

Tae-su received a message from Ha-bin's lost phone while arguing with Eo-jin. Ha-bin stood next to Yeong-min's corpse in a photo. This alarmed Tae-su, who was trying to protect his daughter from the murder case. Jung Du-cheol, Joon-tae's father, sent the photo and warned Tae-su to release him in one day.

Eo-jin again asked Joon-tae how he attacked Yeong-min in the next scene. Eo-jin wasn't satisfied with his reply. She showed him a photo of Ha-bin in the backseat with a motorcyclist, but Joon-tae claimed not to know them. Police couldn't identify them since the photo was grainy. But Joon-tae knew it was his father and Ha-bin.

Later, Eo-jin met Ha-bin at the police station. Ha-bin visited the station to ask her father about Joon-tae's involvement in the murder probe. Tae-su informed her the situation was serious, but Ha-bin stated she changed her mind and accepted that she was the reason behind Ji-su's death. She added that she no longer fears being caught.

She was leaving the police station when Eo-jin stopped her to talk. She asked Ha-bin about her and Lee Su-hyeon's connection. Ha-bin knew Joon-tae told the police since her father didn't know her friends. When Eo-jin questioned about Choi Yeong-min, Ha-bin denied knowing him. Ha-bin left after the conversation.

The police station identified Jung Du-cheol, an assault convict, as the biker. They couldn't determine Joon-tae and Jung Du-cheol's relationship. Tae-su then questioned Joon-tae again. Tae-su asked Joon-tae if he was lying to protect Kim Sung-hee or Jung Du-cheol. Jung Du-cheol remained unknown to Joon-tae.

Consequently, Tae-su told them to bring Sung-hee to the room where they were questioning him. Joon-tae recounted Sung-hee fleeing away with a knife and blood on her dress when Tae-su questioned her. It appeared that Sung-hee killed Yeong-min and fled.

Tae-su pressured Sung-hee to answer, and Joon-tae broke down that he killed Yeong-min and Sung-hee was innocent. After being asked why, he revealed that Yeong-min saw him kill Song Min-a. Thus he murdered Yeong-min.

After Joon-tae confessed to Song Min-a’s murder, he guided them to the place where Min-a’s body was buried. As they reached there, the body was already dug out. The police officer suspected Jung Du-cheol of taking away the body as he rented the truck recently.

Meanwhile, Jung Du-cheol was seen digging a pothole in another place where he dumped big black luggage. The bag had Song Min-a’s body inside it, which Du-cheol chopped into pieces.

Tae-su returned home and handed over Ji-su’s therapy session recording to Ha-bin to give her the answer to who actually killed her mother. Ha-bin listened to the recording and she was broken when she realized that Ji-su killed herself as she buried Lee Su-hyeon’s body to protect her daughter.

The police team, on the other hand, found that Du-cheol took away a dead body in the truck, but still, they couldn’t find a connection between Joon-tae and Du-cheol. Soon, they found that Du-cheol was Joon-tae’s father from the former’s prison records.

After discovering Min-a's body was missing, Joon-tae stopped cooperating with the police. A half-torn photo of Yeong-min's crime scene arrived at the station while the team was reviewing their case. To protect his son, Du-cheol blackmailed Tae-su and sent the photo to the police. Despite being startled by the picture, Tae-su challenged Du-cheol to do what he wanted.

In the subsequent scene, Tae-su discussed the case with his assistants, Eo-jin and Officer Gu. He concluded that Joon-tae was trying to protect Kim Sung-hee, as she was the only common name among all the victims, Lee Su-hyeon, Song Min-a, and Choi Yeong-min.

Meanwhile, Sung-hee recalled the scene where Joon-tae told her that he saw her running away with a knife from the crime scene. He knew that Sung-hee killed Yeong-min but he took the blame on himself.

Tae-su once again went to Joon-tae and told him that four people died in Sung-hee’s house, the fourth being her husband. He went on to say that she transferred her husband’s house to her name after his death.

Now, Tae-su asked him why he killed Song Min-a. Joon-tae revealed that he raped her and strangled her to death. Tae-su couldn’t accept that Joon-tae killed him but his team took Joon-tae as the criminal and released Sung-hee due to lack of evidence.

At the police station, Officer Gu rushed to Tae-su and informed him that Joon-tae lied to them, as strangulation was not Song Min-a’s cause of death.

In the meantime, police were chasing Jung Du-cheol. In between their searches, another revelation came out that the necklace found at the crime scene was purchased by Ji-su. Finally, the police discovered Ha-bin’s direct involvement in the murder case. Further, the DNA of the necklace matched with Ha-bin’s DNA.

Towards the end of this Doubt episode, Tae-su interrogates Joon-tae and asks him to give the details of Song Min-a’s murder. Joon-tae recounted the incident, where he was not completely conscious. He woke up next to Min-a’s body when they were at Sung-hee’s house.

Joon-tae said he couldn’t remember correctly but he was shocked seeing Min-a next to him. Sung-hee entered the room and said that he killed Min-a. When Joon-tae tried to call the police, Sung-hee stopped her, Joon-tae added.

Tae-su was suddenly interrupted and called out of the interrogation room. Jeong-hwan handed over the photo of Ha-bin at the crime scene to Tae-su. He added that now she is the suspect in this case and the eighth episode of Doubt ended.
