Face Me episode 7 & 8 recap: Jeong-woo’s memories resurface, Jin-seok’s shocking accusation and a deadly confrontation reveal dark secrets about his fiancée’s murder

Episode 7 of the series Face Me, started with Lee Min-hyung and Cha Jeong-woo arriving at Hyo-ju's neighbor’s apartment. Hyo-ju lay injured after the attack by the killer. Jeong-woo, seeing her in a pool of blood, recalled fragments of his fiancée’s murder. The memory of her lying in blood shocked him. He froze until Min-hyung called out, asking him to check on Hyo-ju.

Hyo-ju's left leg artery had ruptured, and after being taken to the hospital, the surgeon deemed her condition too critical for surgery. Jeong-woo decided to perform the surgery at his own hospital, knowing that moving her could be fatal. The neighbor, who had witnessed the attack, identified the killer as the person who had murdered Hyo-ju's father and submitted photos of the attacker to the police. Min-hyung requested CCTV footage from the apartment building.

The police discovered Jin-seok, Hyo-ju’s brother, eating at a nearby convenience store. Despite her doubts about Jin-seok being the actual killer, Min-hyung asked for an arrest warrant for Jin-seok.

Meanwhile, Jin-seok worked as a server at a gambling den. Following his boss’s orders, he disrupted a game, leading to a beating. Min-hyung visited Hyo-ju in the hospital. Running into Jeong-woo, she shared her growing doubts about Jin-seok’s motive for revenge.

Searching Jin-seok’s house again, she found files related to a re-trial. Jeong-woo reflected on Min-hyung’s words. He recalled a post-it in Jin-seok’s house questioning his whereabouts on the night of his fiancée’s death.

Jin-seok later visited lawyer Park Chae-gyeong to discuss his re-trial. He shared how his jailmate, Hyo-ju’s father Nam Gil-taek, had succeeded in getting a re-trial with Chae-gyeong’s help. Jin-seok told her he had seen someone leaving Jeong-woo’s fiancée’s apartment the night she died. He suspected Jeong-woo, suggesting jealousy as a motive.

When Jeong-woo learned about Jin-seok’s visit to Chae-gyeong, he rushed to see her but was delayed by an emergency surgery on an actress with complications from a hip enhancement. After the surgery, Jeong-woo met Chae-gyeong, who told him about Jin-seok's claims but didn't mention Jeong-woo's name. Meanwhile, the actress, still under anesthesia, faced respiratory issues. With Jeong-woo absent, Chief Kim Seok-hoon and Han Woo-jin stepped in to handle the situation.

Later, Min-hyung’s team received a tip about Jin-seok’s whereabouts at a construction site. They rushed there, followed by Jeong-woo, who had been staking out the police station. At the site, thugs assaulted Jin-seok for disrupting their gambling operation. Hearing police sirens, the thugs and Jin-seok fled.

Jeong-woo eventually found Jin-seok at the site. After confronting him about it, Jin-seok denied killing Jeong-woo’s fiancée, claiming he found her lying, bloodied. He recalled seeing a man fleeing the apartment and suspected Jeong-woo. The confrontation triggered more memories for Jeong-woo, leading to a scuffle.

During their scuffle, Jeong-woo recalled strangling his fiancée, which left him shocked. Episode 7 of Face Me ended there.

Recap of Face Me episode 8

Episode 8 of Face Me began with Min-hyung and her team arriving at the location where Jeong-woo and Jin-seok were scuffling and arresting Jin-seok. During interrogation, Jin-seok shared his version of events. He explained that he was intoxicated when he saw someone running out of Jeong-woo’s fiancée’s apartment. Entering, he found her in blood. He told Min-hyung that the man resembled Jeong-woo and urged her to investigate Jeong-woo’s whereabouts that night.

Jeong-woo reflected on Jin-seok’s words and confided in Woo-jin, who revealed he was in Singapore for hospital work that night and knew little about the murder.

The hospital’s chief reprimanded Jeong-woo for leaving soon after the surgery. Despite the actress admitting fault for not disclosing her asthma, the chief asked Jeong-woo to leave for Bintan immediately.

After that, in the episode of Face Me, Min-hyung discovered that her team leader had been involved in the initial investigation of Jeong-woo’s fiancée’s death. He revealed to her that Jeong-woo had a car accident that night, which caused memory loss and shock. However, there were no official records of the accident near his hospital.

Jin-seok was released because the DNA under Hyo-ju’s nails didn't match him. Before leaving, Min-hyung informed him about Jeong-woo’s accident and urged him to check if it had happened before or after the murder. Later, Jeong-woo visited Min-hyung to ask about Jin-seok. Min-hyung shared her doubts about the timing and location of his accident.

At Jeong-woo’s farewell party, he spoke with Yang Eun-jeong, the hospital’s Plastic Surgery Counseling Director. She recalled Jeong-woo saving her brother's life the night of his fiancée’s murder and described seeing him rushing out of the hospital, nearly getting into an accident before taking a taxi. Shocked, Jeong-woo confirmed he hadn’t had an accident near the hospital.

Jeong-woo checked the hospital’s emergency records from seven years ago but found nothing. Then, overhearing a doctor speaking to his mother, he learned she had erased records of the accident. Confronting her, she told him she had done it for his own good, as he had forgotten everything about that night. She also insisted Jin-seok was the murderer and refused to reveal the accident’s details.

Meanwhile, in Face Me, Hyo-ju recovered and was set for discharge. Jeong-woo offered to perform skin graft surgery for her burn scar, delaying her discharge. Hyo-ju also began recalling details about her attack and shared them with the police.

The doctor Jeong-woo had overheard provided him with information about the accident’s location. He informed Jeong-woo that it had occurred near his fiancée’s apartment in Gayeon-do. This made Jeong-woo recall her death more vividly.

Later in the episode, Jin-seok remembered finding a watch at the murder scene. He retrieved it from his belongings and saw “JW” and “WJ” engraved on it. He called Jeong-woo and Min-hyung to show them the evidence.

In the final scene of episode 8, Min-hyung arrived at Jin-seok’s apartment to find him lying in a pool of blood, unresponsive. Jeong-woo was sitting at his head, with a fire extinguisher and hand shower lying nearby.

Episodes 9 and 10 of Face Me will be broadcast on KBS2 on December 4 and 5, 2024, at 9:50 PM (KST). The episodes will also be available for streaming on Viki in select regions.
