On October 4, 2024, Netflix released early excerpts of upcoming seven Korean films at the Busan International Film Festival. The recently unveiled Netflix film roster for 2025 comprises Love Untangled, The Great Flood, Wall to Wall, Lost in Starlight, Mantis, Good News, and Revelations.
Netflix's 2025 release roster encompasses different genres, from thrillers to sci-fi. It’s crucial to remember that the official release dates of these upcoming releases have not been unveiled yet.
Mantis, Good News, and other Korean movies releasing on Netflix in 2025
1) Love Untangled
Love Untangled, an upcoming Netflix Korean film, will be made under Namkoong Sun’s direction. The youth romance drama will feature Shin Eun-soo, Cha Woo-min, Gong Myung, Yoon Sang-hyeon, and Kang Mi-na in the leading roles.
Set in 1998, Love Untangled is about a student named Park Se-ri, who has always hated how curly her hair is and thinks that she must fix it before telling her crush how she feels. She asks transfer student Han Yoon-seok for help, and he gets caught up in Park Se-ri's love plans.
2) The Great Flood
The Great Flood is a disaster sci-fi movie written and directed by Kim Byung Woo. The upcoming movie will feature Kim Da Mi and Park Hae Soo as the leading actors.
The plot focuses on a devastating flood that submerges Earth. An-Na (Kim Da Mi), an accomplished AI research scientist, struggles for survival with Hee-Zo (Park Hae Soo), an employee of a human resources security team, within their swiftly inundating apartment complex.
3) Wall to Wall
Wall to Wall, a thriller movie by Kim Tae Joon, is also preparing for release in the coming year. Yeom Hye Ran, Kang Ha Neul, and Seo Hyun Woo will appear in the leading roles.
This film revolves around Woo Sung (Kang Ha Neul), a financially burdened office employee in his 30s who contends with economic difficulties and noise disturbances in his dream residence. He collaborates with neighbor Jin-Ho (Seo Hyun Woo) to identify the origin of the disturbance, while resident representative Eun Hwa (Yeom Hye Ran) endeavors to maintain tranquility within the building.
4) Lost in Starlight
The upcoming animated film Lost in Starlight will be made under Han Ji Won’s direction. Hong Kyung and Kim Tae Ri will be featured in the new film. The story of Lost in Starlight focuses on Nan Young (Kim Tae Ri), an astronaut aspiring to reach Mars in pursuit of her mother, who vanished during a research expedition.
Simultaneously, Jay (Hong Kyung), a musician, unknowingly develops romantic feelings for Nan Young while restoring a record player that was her mother's. This results in what may be regarded as the longest long-distance relationship, spanning from Mars to Earth.
5) Mantis
Featuring Im Siwan, Park Gyu Young, and Jo Woo Jin, Mantis is the spin-off of the 2023 action thriller movie Kill Boksoon.
The story centers around an A-level killer named Mantis, who breaks out of retirement and starts a dangerous game of cat and mouse with his adversary Jae-i and the famous hitman Dok-go to see who can become the best.
6) Good News
With Byun Sung Hyun as the director, Good News is another thriller movie that will be released on Netflix in 2025. Sul Kyung Gu, Hong Kyung, and Ryoo Seung Bum will appear in the main roles.
The story of Good News takes place in 1970 when an aggressive hijacking occurs as an unidentified group relentlessly seeks the takeover of a passenger aircraft.
7) Revelations
Another thriller movie on Netflix’s 2025 release schedule is Revelations. The movie will be made under Yeon Sang Ho’s direction, featuring Ryu Jun Yeol and Shin Hyun Bin in the lead roles.
When ex-convict Yang-Rae walks into Pastor Min Chan's (Ryu Jun Yeol) church, his life falls apart. A divine message tells him that Yang-Rae took his son. Detective Yeon-Hee (Shin Hyun Been), who is still haunted by her sister's death, is after Yang-Rae, but she also thinks Min-Chan is up to no good.
These are the Korean movies that are getting ready for their release in 2025. In addition to these movies, the OTT platform has also lined up an extensive roster of K-dramas that will air in the coming year.
