From RM’s BTS Festa Radio to Jungkook’s Qatar content: BIGHIT drops never-seen-before Bangtan Bomb episodes in celebration of ARMY day

BIGHIT MUSIC (now HYBE Labels) dropped BTS' new special Bangtan Bomb episodes on July 9, 2024, to commemorate ARMY's birthday. The group's fandom was officially named "Adorable Representative MC For Youth," an acronym for ARMY.

The name was created by the members and formally revealed on July 9, 2013, which is also considered the official date for the fandom's founding. BIGHIT MUSIC released seven unseen footage of the members from their solo schedules between 2022 and 2023.

Jin was discharged on June 12, 2024, after completing his service. The rest of the six members are currently enlisted in the South Korean military to fulfill their mandatory 18 months of conscription as per the nation's law. j-hope enlisted in April 2023 and will return in October 2024, while the rest (Jimin, RM, V, Jungkook, and SUGA) will return in June 2025.

BTS members' unseen footage released on ARMY's birthday

The first video, RM's Radio at the 2023 BTS FESTA, featured BTS' leader, Namjoon, aka RM. The camera follows Namjoon traveling to Yeouido Park in Seoul for his June 17, 2023, Radio Jockey live show. In 2013, the K-pop group gathered there for their very first fan meetup.

Kim Seok-jin's video, Jin's Variety Show Excursion, featured the BTS idol preparing for his appearance on Lee Young-ji's YouTube show, Nothing Much Prepared. It was Jin's first solo variety show appearance in a long time. The video features behind-the-scenes shots of Jin during the Nothing Much Prepared filming.

After Jin's video, BIGHIT MUSIC released SUGA at the Movie Premiere, which featured the D-DAY rapper-songwriter attending The Devil's Deal movie premiere in February 2023. The video chronicles SUGA's behind-the-scenes as he talks candidly to the camera, interacts with the main characters, and has a heart-to-heart with actor Lee Sung-min.

j-hope's 'CRUSH HOUR' Practice Sketch was the fourth Bangtan Bomb video. In the video, j-hope was seen practicing his dance moves with South Korean soloist Crush for their song RUSH HOUR at PNATION's headquarters.

The fifth Bangtan Bomb video, Jimin's Music Show Fan Support Shoot Sketch, shows Jimin creating sketches for his debut solo album, FACE. During the video, he calls Jin, who was serving in the military at the time. Jimin creates a series of sketches, which he shows to the camera. These sketches were released during the promotions of FACE in February 2023.

The behind-the-scenes footage from Kim Tae-hyung, aka V's Bangtan Bomb video, was released next. V's 20-Second Live in Gangneung shows the Layover singer-songwriter traveling to Gangneung on the KORAIL train with his filming crew. He starts a Weverse livestream, which he ends in 20 seconds. ARMY finally learned the backstory of the 20-second Weverse livestream via this video.

The final special Bangtan Bomb episode was about Jungkook, titled Jung Kook Unwinds in Qatar. The footage is from 2022 when the GOLDEN singer visited Qatar to perform at the 2022 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in November. The video opens with Jungkook swimming at the hotel pool and grooving to Dreamers.

In other news, BTS' Jin was selected as one of the torchbearers of the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics Torch Relay. The K-pop idol also became the first global ambassador of the French luxury jewelry brand FRED on July 8, 2024.
