Good Partner, starring Jang Na-ra and Nam Ji-hyun, aired episodes 12 and 13 on September 7 and 8, respectively, on SBS. In episode 12 of Good Partner, Han Yu-ri (Nam Ji-hyun) visited Cha Eun-kyung (Jang Na-ra) at the hospital as she requested the after-service.

Daejeong Law Firm CEO Oh Dae-gyu (Jung Jae-sung) and his son Jung Woo-jin (Kim Jun-han) signed an MOU with a renowned conglomerate Chun Foundation for corporate and construction cases. Later, Chun Foundation's director Chun requested Oh Dae-gyu to take up his son Chun Hwan-seo’s divorce case (Kwak Si-yang).

Chun Hwan-seo's wife, Yoo Ji-young (Park Ah-in), filed a divorce; however, he wanted to get dismissed. Oh Dae-gyu assigned this VIP case to Han Yu-ri instead of Cha Eun-kyung. Han Yu-ri declined as Cha Eun-kyung was a senior lawyer and her team leader. Oh Dae-gyu suggested he would not fire Cha Eun-kyung if she won this case.

This created tension between Cha Eun-kyung and Han Yu-ri as VIP cases are not assigned to rookie lawyers. Cha Eun-kyung seemed upset and tried to distance herself from Han Yu-ri even when she asked for help. Han Yu-ri told Cha Eun-kyung that she did not want to take this case in the first place but it was to protect her.

Despite the issues in recent episodes of Good Partner, Han Yu-ri and Cha Eun-kyung stood strong during the new crisis, finding a solution to tackle the Chun Hwan-seo case.

Good Partner ep 12-13 recap: Cha Eun-kyung musters up courage while Han Yu-ri stands in support

Chun Hwan-seo was accused of domestic violence by his wife Yoo Ji-young, and due to this, she developed aquaphobia and alopecia. However, he denied stating that she did it only to extort money as this was Yoo Ji-young’s fourth time filing for divorce. She withdrew the complaint every time she received money and could not secure any evidence for her claim.

In episode 12 of Good Partner, after the first trial of Chun Hwan-seo’s divorce case, Han Yu-ri saw Yoo Ji-young in the washroom and realized Chun Hwan-seo was hiding something from her. She confronted him as this would put their case at a disadvantage. Chun Hwan-seo started to show his true colors and wanted Han Yu-ri to drop out of the case.

Later, Jung Woo-jin asked Cha Eun-kyung to help Han Yu-ri as an additional attorney. In the mediation trial, Cha Eun-kyung also observed that Yoo Ji-young seemed to be telling the truth, and this time, she had recorded evidence.

Chun Hwan-seo was not satisfied with Han Yu-ri and Cha Eun-kyung following the mediation as the court asked for fact-finding at his house and suggested Yoo Ji-young live separately for a while. Chun Hwan-seo was extremely rude to both the lawyers, and Cha Eun-kyung sensed that he might end up causing trouble.

Later, Cha Eun-kyung met Director Chun with Oh Dae-gyu and Jung Woo-jin. There, she found out Jung Woo-jin was Oh Dae-gyu's son after 14 years of working with him and that he would be the next CEO of the law firm. By the end of episode 12 of Good Partner, Chun Hwan-seo called Cha Eun-kyung at night after killing Yoo Ji-young at his house.

In episode 13 of Good Partner, Han Yu-ri also joined Cha Eun-kyung; however, the latter suggested she not follow her inside Chun Hwan-seo's house. Cha Eun-kyung witnessed Yoo Ji-young taking her last breath and she tried to call 119, but Chun Hwan-seo flung her phone and tried to strangle her. He threatened Cha Eun-kyung that he would do the same to her daughter as he did to Yoo Ji-young.

Cha Eun-kyung escaped through the back door, while Han Yu-ri, who waited outside, called the police. Chun Hwan-seo was arrested at the scene on the charges of physical assault. Han Yu-ri lied to the police that she was the witness instead of Cha Eun-kyung, as it would ruin the reputation of Daejeong Law Firm.

Han Yu-ri received criticism from the public for representing Chun Hwan-seo in his divorce case as the rumors that she was the witness to Yoo Ji-young's death started to circulate. Meanwhile, Cha Eun-kyung felt guilty as she could not save Yoo Ji-young, and at the same time, she was scared of Chun Hwan-seo. On Jung Woo-jin’s first day as the CEO, he terminated the MOU with Chun Foundation and decided not to represent Chun Hwan-seo in his criminal case.

Cha Eun-kyung hesitated a lot; however, she mustered up her courage and met the prosecutor before the third trial of the case. She stated that the charges against Chun Hwan-seo should not just be physical assault but also murder. She risked almost revealing her clients’ information, putting her image as a lawyer and the law firm’s integrity at risk.

Cha Eun-kyung used her right to decline to be a witness but made the statement about what she saw at Chun Hwan-seo’s house. She also carried a pen recorder with her, which served as proof. In the meantime, Han Yu-ri decided to protest in front of the court, demanding better law policies in case of domestic violence. Daejeong Law Firm employees joined her in protest.

Han Yu-ri also appeared on broadcast news in support of Cha Eun-kyung and highlighted how her statement changed the charges from physical assault to murder. With this, Cha Eun-kyung and Han Yu-ri received public support and the image of the law firm also turned positive. Besides this, Chun Hwan-seo was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

By the end of episode 13 of Good Partner, Cha Eun-kyung told Han Yu-ri that she would be leaving the Daejeong law firm. She stated that she would go independent while Han Yu-ri would also separate from her.

It is yet to be seen what happens next on Good Partner.

Good Partner airs every Friday and Saturday on SBS at 10 pm KST and later on Rakuten Viki.
