Gyeongseong Creature season 2 premiered on Netflix on September 28, 2024, starring Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, Claudia Kim, and Lee Moo-saeng. The second season takes place in 2024, 79 years after 1945 when Tae-sang (Park Seo-joon) and Chae-ok (Han So-hee) burned down Onseong Hospital and ended Lady Maeda's (Claudia Kim) organization.

Both Tae-sang and Chae-ok become immortal due to the Najin parasite inside them. The two cross paths after 79 years, unaware of each other's existence, only to learn that Lady Maeda and her human experiment survived and thrived for decades. Meanwhile, certain scenes played as parallels between 1945 and 2024 as the season progressed.

Season 2 mimicked Chae-ok and Tae-sang (now Ho-jae) exactly how they first met in Gyeongseong Creature season 1. In the first season, Chae-ok tailed Tae-sang and he encountered her in a narrow dimly lit alley. Meanwhile, in the second season, Tae-sang, aka Ho-jae, tailed Chae-ok and was similarly confronted by her. Both times, they get into a fist-fight, where Tae-sang says,

"This time, I won't go easy on you."

For the unversed, Tae-sang gets infected by the Najin parasite two years after he burned down Onseong Hospital in 1945 (season 1). Lady Maeda lured him into her trap (1947) and infected him with the parasite. For 79 years, he fought against her and her new organization, Jeonseong Bio—built over Onseong Hospital—but was caught in 2023 and gets the Najin removed from his body.

As a result, he lost his memories and lived with his new identity as Jang Ho-jae. His best friend, Kwon Yong-pil, is the grandson of Kwon Jun-taek (Wi Ha-joon). Kwon Jun-taek was a rich noble who was Jang Tae-sang's best friend and a freedom fighter in season 1.

Meanwhile, in another scene from episode 6 of Gyeongseong Creature season 2, Jang Ho-jae, aka Jang Tae-sang, said he won't sit back while others do his dirty job. He echoes the exact words of Jang Tae-sang from season 1, when he decided to enter Onseong Hospital again to save Chae-ok and others.

The series also showcased the same experiment chamber from Gyeongseong Creature season 1, upon which the new Jeonseong Bio company is built. The chamber was modified with glass railings and black polished marble, from where General Kato once used to look down inside the circular cage, as Sheisin (Chae-ok's mother who mutated into a Najin monster) would kill people.

In 2024, the old monster was replaced by another in Gyeongseong Creature season 2—the one that survived the Tokyo blast in 1945 at the end of season 1—along with two other newly mutated monsters. In the present, the prison cells from 1945 were modified with stronger steel, now including a bed, and the Nitrogen gas transformed into smaller lighter barrels shaped like hand grenades.

Gyeongseong Creature season 2 focuses more on Chae-ok (Han So-hee) and Tae-sang's (Park Seo-joon) love story, unlike season 1, where they fought together to end Lady Maeda's human experiments. Director Chung Dong-yoon said in a September 28 interview with Marie Claire that he intended to emphasize the love story, along with the "remnants of the past."

"For season 2, I wanted to focus on the love story between Ho-jae and Chae-ok, [and] show how they are still loving each other and running towards each other. I also wanted to show the remnants of the past that we still see in the modern day," he said.

Gyeongseong Creature season 2 consists of 7 episodes and is available on Netflix for global streaming.
