BTS' Jungkook has again made headlines with a heartfelt New Year's letter posted on Weverse on January 8, 2025. In his message, he expressed his deep longing to reunite with fans. He also highlighted the significance of 2025, the year when his and other BTS members' military service will conclude, allowing them to reconnect with their global audience.

In his New Year's letter, Jungkook reflected on the challenges and growth he has experienced during his time in the military. He further conveyed optimism for the future, stating that 2025 holds special significance as it marks the end of the members' military commitments. As translated by Papago Naver, the BTS idol wrote:

"It's the year of the military service and the year we meet, ARMY. But I don't think there's much change in my mind. It's always been like that, so I'm just missing you. There's nothing to talk about, just waiting for it. But if there's something I want to hurry up and do, I want to learn a lot of things for ARMY and spend time focusing on growth."

The Standing Next To You singer added:

"I think time goes by well. Please run faster. I want to say that I feel a bit overwhelmed because I miss you so much. It's already January and it's the 8th. Are you all healthy? I hope you all have a happy birthday. I hope you didn't get off to a bad start to the new year... And I hope it's a night where you can't think of anything when you lie down to sleep."

The letter resonated deeply with fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the group's return. One fan wrote on X:

Jungkook's surprise Weverse livestream amidst ongoing military service broke records

Jungkook began his mandatory military service on December 12, 2023, joining fellow BTS members in fulfilling this national duty. However, despite the restrictions of military life, he surprised fans with an unexpected Weverse livestream on December 18, 2024.

This marked his first live interaction with fans since enlisting, and the response was overwhelming. The livestream attracted over 20.2 million real-time viewers, setting a new record on the platform and surpassing his previous record of 16 million views, as per Korea JoongAng Daily on December 20, 2024.

The official X account of World Music Awards reported that the BTS singer became the 'Most Viewed Individual Live in real-time on Weverse.' The live session also gained a staggering record of 292 million likes—a first in the history of K-pop idols and their livestreams.

During the session, Jungkook shared glimpses of his new home, as he revealed that he obtained special permission from the military to conduct the livestream. Furthermore, he showcased his extensive bar counter, which contained expensive liquor collections of imported whiskeys and scotch like Hibiki, Yamazaki, and more.

The unexpected livestream shocked the internet, with fans expressing excitement and emotional responses across various social media platforms.

In other news, BTS' Jungkook will complete his 18 months of mandatory service in the Republic of Korea Army in June 2025 and return to civilian life.
