Each BTS member has a unique story to tell about their furry companions, reflecting their personalities and affections in touching ways. From dogs to sugar gliders, these pets have become an integral part of their lives, offering comfort and companionship amidst their hectic schedules.

Here is a closer look at the adorable pets of BTS members and the special relationships they share with their four-legged friends.


More details on the pets of every BTS member

From RM to Jungkook, every BTS member has some pets. Despite having a busy schedule these members spend time with them and share the comforting moments with ARMY.


1) RM's Moni

RM, the leader and rapper of BTS, had a male American Eskimo dog named Rapmon, also called Moni. In August 2023, RM shared the sad news that Moni had passed away three months earlier. Moni was with RM since 2013.

In a Weverse chat, RM said,

"Moni, two-three months ago, crossed the rainbow. It wasn't long, the time he was with me but he was a family member."

To commemorate Moni’s memory, RM bought a portrait of a dog resembling his beloved pet, offering some comfort amidst the grief.

2) V's Yeontan

BTS's V, also known as Kim Taehyung, introduced his Pomeranian, Yeontan, as a global event. When V first revealed Yeontan to the world, the adorable pup quickly became a sensation. For a certain period, V's Yeontan was trending as the 15th topic on X, showcasing the massive fanbase and influence he holds.

Yeontan, affectionately called Tannie, was adopted in 2016. The name Yeontan translates to 'coal briquette' in Korean. V frequently shares videos and photos of Tannie on his social media, and the dog has garnered a fan base of his own.

Apart from Yeotan, BTS member V has another two dogs and a cat. Soonshim, one of the dogs, belongs to the Korean Jindo breed while the other's name is Ssyongssyong. The cat is named Kkanji which is the Chinchilla Persian.

3) Suga's Holly

BTS member Suga has a deep affection for his family poodle, Holly, despite initially not being a dog lover. He introduced Holly to fans in September 2016. Over the years, Holly has become an inseparable part of Suga’s life, often displaying affectionate antics that endear him even more to fans.

In a 2022 Weverse post, Suga shared a video of Holly draped over his neck like a blanket, playfully remarking,

"It's not a muffler but Holly."

However, Suga has mentioned in an interview with GQ that he hardly gets time to play with him. He remarked,

"Actually, Holly is not my dog, it’s my parents’ dog, so I haven’t seen him since the last time I went to Daegu."

4) Jungkook's Bam

Jungkook, the youngest BTS member, has a strong bond with his pets. His Doberman, Bam, led to the viral hashtag #jeonbam, which got over 100 million views on TikTok by March 2023. In April 2024, Jungkook started an Instagram account for Bam (@bowwow_bam), which gained over 3 million followers in just 24 hours. He also introduced his Italian greyhounds, Song and Paengie, in 2022.

Currently, this BTS member is fulfilling his mandatory military service, and still, he manages to stay connected with fans by sharing heartwarming moments. He humorously shared on Weverse,

"I can't brag about myself right now so I should brag about my child (baby) instead. Have a great night Bowwow_bam. Unity!!!!!!!!!"

Apart from Bam, Jung Kook had a Maltese, named Gureum who passed away in 2021. He also introduced two other Italian greyhound pups in 2016, Songie and Paengie.

5) Jimin's Ddosun

BTS' Jimin is a pet lover who had a Pitbull Terrier and Korean Jindo mix named Ddosun during his childhood. Sadly, Ddosun passed away in 2017, and since then, it remains unknown whether Jimin has any pets.

6) J-Hope's Mickey

BTS member Jung Hoseok, known by his stage name J-Hope, shared numerous heartwarming photos of his beloved Shih Tzu, Mickey. The white and brown pup, J-Hope’s only pet, clearly has a special place in his heart as the rapper captured several adorable moments with him to share with his fans.

J-Hope posed with his Mickey, cuddling in his arms, smiling warmly as he held his furry friend close. However, this BTS member has shared about his donation to the dog shelter.


7) Jin's Jjangu, Gukmool and others

Jin, another BTS member, had a Maltese named Jjangu who passed away in 2017 at age 12. He also owned two sugar gliders, Odeng and Eomuk, given to him by his parents in 2017. Eomuk died in 2018, so Jin got another sugar glider named Gukmul, meaning "soup," to keep Odeng company.

However, a year later, Jin shared on V Live that Odeng had also passed away after a fall from the bridge in his cage. J-Hope once shared a personal moment, revealing that Jin cried uncontrollably upon learning of Jjangu's death.

In the second season of the variety show In The Soop, Jin shared,

"I remember it exactly. At the Mic Drop recording, you cried so much. He was bawling when he heard the news of his dog passing. Jin couldn’t stop crying, so we promised we’d finish it in one go. We shot the performance even without a rehearsal."

BTS members are not only known for their global impact and music but also their deep love and special bond with their pets. Each member’s relationship with their furry companions reveals a personal side to them, filled with affection and heartfelt moments.
