On January 17, 2025, BTS leader RM (Kim Namjoon) engaged in a lighthearted exchange with fellow member j-hope (Jung Hoseok) on Instagram. The interaction began when j-hope commented on RM's recent post, expressing anticipation for Namjoon's upcoming military discharge.

RM responded enthusiastically, stating,

"I can be discharged from the military" (as translated by Papago).

Namjoon enlisted for his mandatory military service in December 2023 and is scheduled to be discharged in June 2025. j-hope, who completed his 18-month service in October 2024, will soon embark on his solo HOPE ON THE STAGE world tour, which will commence on February 28, 2025, in Seoul.

Meanwhile, the camaraderie between Namjoon and j-hope has been a source of comfort for fans during the group's hiatus. However, Namjoon's response incited concerns among fans on social media platforms. One fan wrote on X:

"It must truly be absolutely horrible for him."

Some fans raised concerns about Namjoon's mental health as he has been serving in the military.

"Ok but in all seriousness i rly do worry abt his mental health in there like my goodness…" one fan wrote.
"I am honestly worrying about him a little. I hope he’s been taking care of himself and his mental health properly. He’s spoken about his mental health issues openly before and I’ve always related to how he felt (which is why I kind of have a soft spot for him)." another fan said.
"Breaks my heart how many times joon has shown hes unhappy there :( from my own friends stories i cant even express how bad it is but idols just have to tell the fun stories about bonds they made etc. thats why armys romanticising it disgusts me sm. sigh youll be free soon my love," one other fan added.

Others echoed the sentiments and stressed that they hope the BTS leader would fare well in the military.

"Get him out of that barracks please," a fan reacted.
"I hope he is actually okay.. I want this to be over already," another fan wrote.
"This is actually kinda painful to see i hope he's holding up okay in there," one other fan added.
